Title: How secure does this make you feel? Post by fubar on Feb 3rd, 2005, 2:39am I just got back from the second trip business trip this year, and when I got home, discovered that I had inadvertently packed my full-sized Leatherman Wave tool in my bag. This tool has a rather lethal 2.25” blade, a 2.5” serrated blade, a very sharp 2.5” saw, is make of solid steel, and weighs a good ½ pound (at least). This tool has been in my carry-on bag since I came back from Utah way back in November, so it’s made at least 2 round trips to various places since then. Would somebody please tell me HOW THE F*^K was I allowed to travel on no less than 4 commercial flights without so much as a blink from TSA? I have lost all faith in the idiots who are screening our passengers. Jesus. -Fu |

The small protrusion that opens the cans is about a half inch long at best. Bastards in Billings, Montana wouldn't let me carry it on the plane. I explained that I had been carrying this thing on my keychain for months of air travel and he was the first to ever say anything. I also told him I could shove an ink pen through his neck quicker and easier than to use that teeniny little piece of metal as a weapon. He let me keep my ink pen and took my can opener. No bag was searched, x-rayed, no dope sniffing dogs or nuttin. My bag could have been filled with plastique and no one would have known. My backpack went through the x-ray, and the 2 guards asked me what was in it. Once I explained what it was, they conferred and let me keep it. However, this was not in North America, it was in Prague, Czech Republic. And those guys scared the crap out of me. Never been scared going through security in NA. Casey |

But they let me keep my charging unit with AC cord to wall and DC cord to laptop (each is approx. 3 feet long), LAN cable (9 feet) and external mouse (5 feet). |

I had my intramuscular syringes (1 inch needle) in my backpack the entire time because I actually forgot they were in there. I had kept them there while I was in school, etc, and I just forgot to take them out before the trip. When I realized they were in there, I was sitting at the gate before one of the flights...I actually pulled the syringe out while looking for something. I quickly shoved it back into my bag and thought...holy crap..can't believe they didn't stop me for THAT one!! It IS scary sometimes... |

The fact is life is a gamble. Any terrorist worth his salt will get on the plane. You can sit at home and be safe and never ventrue out the door or just live. They were randomly pulling people out of line for the plane and making them take off their shoes, open all their bags, etc etc. They pulled this like 80 some year old man out of line - and it took him like a half hour to get everything undone and then back together. I seriously wanted to cry. So our elder population are now the terrorists?? Sheesh...I never saw a guy look less harmless. I know we can't stereotype...but seriously...the guy was handicapped and looked like he had about 10 grandkids, all of which he spoiled greatly. They could have picked someone else!!! |

Post by cootie on Feb 3rd, 2005, 10:51pm Took a tour bus up to Canada to a casino with my mom.....goin thru customs we had a few people get on the bus and talk to us all "asking" if anyone had alchohol, cigarettes or weapons. Everyone sat quietly stareing at them.....so they let us thru. On the way home customs boarded the buss again and "asked" if anyone had any achohol, cigarettes, weapons or money. Everyone kinda sat there rollin there eyes. I kept wantin to jump up yelling 'YES'.......hey was jus 'thinkin' to myself. Dumb questions with no answers Pam So what we need are honest terrorists that will confess when asked........jus seem'd dumb they asked that cuz who the hell is gonna say YES anyhow ???? If it is that important I think more should be done. Oh yeah.....the bus driver kept falling asleep on the way there......LOVELY !!!!! |

Here you cant even get into the departure lounge to say goodnye to any one without going through rather strict security, everything has to be taken out of your pockets, steel capped safety footwear has to be removed and if anything is doubtfull they will hold it untill you return and leave the building.
