Title: Re: worth $$$ Post by Charlie on Feb 2nd, 2005, 8:11pm Well. What is the book, title, date, author, pages, date, etc? Grant died in 1885 or 6 I think. His autobiography made a ton of money. Is that it? Memoirs. Are the USAF "chart" silk maps? Need more info kids. Charlie |

Title: Re: worth $$$ Post by Charlie on Feb 2nd, 2005, 8:45pm That's right. You said it was scrapbook....Duh... I've not seen this but it's got to have some value. It's a great ebay item I'd have to call it something like a broadside or insert. If you're lucky, it's a local thing but I don't know. I'm not sure where. I know the memorial is in NY. It's a hard one. I'll snoop around though. My friend found a copy of the prayer that Patton distributed to the 3rd Army and we found it on line. They passed out thousands of them. Neat though. This is a trick question for the simple fact that (Please correct me if someone finds that I am wrong) there are 2 people buried in Grant's tomb. Grant and his wife. More useless trivia unless I can get a spot on one of those gameshows. |

Title: Re: US Grant $$$ Post by ExplodingEyeBall on Feb 3rd, 2005, 9:47am I think I may have to correct myself here. I did some looking around and found that Grant's tomb is not buried. It is above ground. Therefore, no-one is BURIED in Grant's tomb. I am still trying to verify that his wife is also in there. |

Title: Re: US Grant $$$ Post by catlind on Feb 3rd, 2005, 3:34pm Hmm if that's worth $$$ I wonder what his ring is worth then. Clark's family tree involves Grant (his brothers name is Grant after Ulysses) Clark has (what is supposedly) Grants lion ring, the original ruby is gone though, and it has a fake stone in it now. We also have a set of 6 hand blown sugar glass champagne glasses from the Governor of Wisconsins inaugural ball that Grant attended. Maybe it's time I look into the actual history/value of these things. Cat |

Title: Re: US Grant $$$ Post by Charlie on Feb 3rd, 2005, 4:37pm You know, if this scrapbook has lots other stuff, you might have things worth more than the Grant item. Lots of things, like advertising, certain trade cards, ethnic is big, Coke stuff, beer, cars, railroad, aviation, early photos, medicine, etc. Charlie |
