Reading Op Center right now.  Tom Clancy.  I read a lot of fiction, mostly classics, ie. Dickens, Poe, Austen, Hemmingway and the lot.

Cat,
don't worry. I DO read.  :)
More than magazines and uni books, that is!

The last one I read was Barbara Berger's The Road To Power - Fast Food for the Soul.  :)

But all the uni work I need to do make sure that I don't have time to read as much as I wanted to.... :(

Best wishes,
Sandie

My most recent read was Portrait Of A Killer. A very intersting book about Jack The Ripper. It got me thinking.

I'm also currently reading The Idiots Guide To Quitting Smoking. [smiley=smokin.gif]

My clusterbuddy in WA. recommended a book she thought was great though heartwrenching...I can't remember the name something "102"...don't know.  Anyway, it's a book on the events of 9/11 in one of the towers told by the people who were there firsthand...

I might read it.

I read quite a lot.

I just finished up: Eating People Is Wrong by Malcolm Bradbury, Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech, Nightmares Echo by Katlyn Stewart, Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco, The House of Seven Gables by Nathaniel Hawthorn and Flicker by Theodore Roszak.

I'd be lost without books.

I'm reading War and Peace and Trinity.

Just to make it interesting I am reading them back to front and alternating books between Chapters.

The Lovely Bones and Trinity are amazing books. Never read War and Peace...the whole "war" part turns me off.

The last two books that I read were "The House of Sand and Fog" (interesting) and some other fiction book that I forgot the name of (because it wasn't that good).  My daughter just finished "The Lovely Bones". It sounds pretty heavy. She liked it though. She told me that they are gonna make a movie out of it???

I posted on a different thread, but here goes...

I read about a week ago "The DaVinci Code" by Dan Brown, am now reading "Fingerprints of the Gods" by Graham Hancock, next is "Heaven's Mirror" and "Underworld", both also by Graham Hancock and I am expecting delivery any day now of "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" by Michael Baigent and "The Gnostic Gospels: A Startling Account of the Meaning of Jesus and the Origin of Christianity Based on Gnostic Gospels and Other Secret Texts" by Elaine Pagels.

Happy Reading everyone! :) :) :)

of course it's chicken.  That's why it costs so much.  You have to hire people to put them into their little scuba suits.

I recently read these:

Small Corner of Hell:Dispatches from Chechnya - Anna Politkovskaya (An amazing woman)

Madness Visable: A memoir of War - Janine di Giovanni (a reporter who was in the Balkans)

Slave - Mende Nazer (autobio of a girl in Sudan, gave me a better understanding of what is going on in Sudan)

Alice Sebold wrote a very good autobio about when she was raped - Lucky

Along with Lucky my other 2 favorite modern autobio's

Lair's Club -  Mary Carr

Color of water - James McBride

I love to read but I usually don't have much time.

False Memory (not done)

and now I'm rereading The DaVinci Code

and studying:

Real Estate Investments (ACK! ACK!)

The Fundamentals of Real Estate Appraisal (ACK ACK!)

Questions & Answers to Help you Pass Real Estate Appraisal Exams

Uniform Residential Appraisal Report

HANDBOOK FOR APPRAISERS

USPAP 2004 and 2005

(don't ask me why I'm studying residential when I do public utilities.... I don't get it either - blame the State of Wisconsin)

That's exactly what I'm going to read when I'm done with Op center.  The purloined letter is one of the greatest detective stories I've ever read.

I read old stuff. As Henry Fonda said in On Golden Pond: "No matter; it's all new to me."

Nearly finished with "The Fifties." Still trying to wade though my history stuff.
