Title: Re: MP3 Question (NON CH, obviously) Post by Virginia on Feb 1st, 2005, 9:14pm Thinking about buying it, but just looking for some feedback. It's cheaper than the IPOD Mini, and has 1 GB more space.... |

Title: Re: MP3 Question (NON CH, obviously) Post by Hirvimaki on Feb 2nd, 2005, 9:41am Nope. I've got the Nomad Zen. Love it! I bought the one with a 20G HD on ebay for about $180 and then did a bit of surgery and put in an 80G HD. (The Zen takes a standard 9.5mm laptop HD, so you can find 'em fair cheap now.) With an 80G HD you can have 8.7 weeks (yes, weeks) of MP3s at 128Kbits/sec, and you can even get 133 hours of 320Kbits/sec or uncompressed music files on that sucker! I really disliked the software that came with the Zen, but happily Red Chair makes a wonderful interface called Notmad. It is truly the best interface software I've seen for music management. (A note to iPod users: Red Chair makes an interface called Anapod which, according to my iPod using friends, blows the socks off of the iPod interface.) I would recommend that if you get the Dell DJ or Pocket DJ, you look into Redchair's Dudebox software. Having a good interface makes all the difference. Hirvimaki-Isi |
