Title: What are your favorite lyrics or quotes?
Post by AlienSpaceBabe on Jan 26th, 2005, 2:45pm
Just wondering.....

I have many:

Evanescence:
all this time I can't believe I couldn't see
kept in the dark but you were there in front of me
I’ve been sleeping a thousand years it seems
got to open my eyes to everything

Peter Gabriel:
and all my instincts, they return
and the grand facade, so soon will burn
without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside

John Cale:
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

John Cale:
Never win and never lose
There's nothing much to choose
Between the right and wrong
Nothing lost and nothing gained
Still things aren't quite the same
Between you and me

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine

Billy Joel:
You're only human, you're allowed to make your share of mistakes
You better believe there will be times in your life
When you'll be feeling like a stumbling fool
So take it from me you'll learn more from your accidents
Than anything that you could ever learn at school

Don't forget your second wind
Sooner of later you'll get your second wind

It's not always easy to be living in this world of pain
You're gonna be crashing into stone walls again and again
It's alright, it's alright
Though you feel your heart break
You're only human, you're gonna have to deal with heartache

Just like a boxer in a title fight
You got to walk in that ring all alone
You're not the only one who's made mistakes
But they're the only thing that you can truly call your own

Don't forget your second wind
Wait in that corner until that breeze blows in

You've been keeping to yourself these days
Cause you're thinking everything's gone wrong
Sometimes you just want to lay down and die
That emotion can be so strong
But hold on
Till that old second wind comes along

You probably don't want to hear advice from someone else
But I wouldn't be telling you if I hadn't been there myself
It's alright, it's alright
Sometimes that's all it takes
We're only human
We're supposed to make mistakes
But I survived all those long lonely days
When it seemed I did not have a friend
Cause all I needed was a little faith
So I could catch my breath and face the world again

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly...what is essential is invisible to the eye"

"seduce my body and I'm yours for the moment...seduce my mind and I'll be yours forever"

Another day has almost come and gone
Can’t imagine what else could wrong
Sometimes I’d like to hide away somewhere and lock the door
A single battle lost but not the war (’cause)

Tomorrow’s another day
And I’m thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain

It’s almost like the hard times circle ’round
A couple drops and they all start coming down
Yeah, I might feel defeated,
I might hang my head
I might be barely breathing - but I’m not dead

(I'm sure I'll think of more by the time I get home from work tonight)

OK serious,

Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight

Some times I get out the acoustic guitar and serenade my wife with this one. I have to change blonde to red though. (You know how those red heads get.[smiley=sgrin.gif])

---------------------------------------------------------------------
It's late in the evening; she's wondering what clothes to wear.
She puts on her make-up and brushes her long blonde red hair.
And then she asks me, "Do I look all right?"
And I say, "Yes, you look wonderful tonight."

We go to a party and everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady that's walking around with me.
And then she asks me, "Do you feel all right?"
And I say, "Yes, I feel wonderful tonight."

I feel wonderful because I see
The love light in your eyes.
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don't realize how much I love you.

It's time to go home now and I've got an aching head,
So I give her the car keys and she helps me to bed.
And then I tell her, as I turn out the light,
I say, "My darling, you were wonderful tonight.
Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight."

I got a sick reputation for handlin broads
All I need is a few seconds or more.
It's a rap
Tell the lady to bring my lap
And I ain't comin back
So you can put the car right there.
I'm the truth
And I ain't got nothin' to prove.
An you can ask anybody
Cuz they seen me do it.
Barracades, I run right through 'em
I'm used to 'em.
Throw all the dirt you want i'm used to it.
still gonna have a pent up in a fabulous room
bone her back pickin' at a basket of fruit.
(I love you boo)
Yeah freak and Petey love you too.
Ha Ha
You know how I do..

So damn hot but so young.
Still got milk on ya tongue
Slow down lil one
And you ain't got it all
Hey shawty
You think you bad but you ain't bad
I'll show you what bad is.
Bad is when you capable of beatin' the baddest.
I been workin' at it since I came to this planet
And I ain't quite there yet but I'm gettin' better at it.
Matter of fact,
Lemme tell it to you one mo' again
All I got to do is tell a girl who I am (Petey!)
Ain't naa chick in here dat I can't have
Bada boom bada bam ba bam!

And the seasons, they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down.
We're captive on the carousel of time.
We can't return,
we can only look behind from where we came
and go round and round and round in the circle game.

It's in everyone of us

Find your heart.

My favorites are:

  see my tag line underneath.

I have always tried to gladden the hearts of those around me.  Some times it has back-fired in my face.  But I still abscribe to it.

Sung by Don Williams:

where are you tonight
i don't seem to know you
no i'm not all right
where are you tonight
and my heart is nearly gone
there's not much left to offer
if i could somehow know
i could stop the burning down
where are you tonight
are you even really out there
i won't put up a fight
where are you tonight
and the world keeps spinning round
a vicious cycle turning
some of them know love
some of us know the burning down

Ive got a problem, a problem with hate.....I can't go on dragging this weight.

A cold steel hand that wont let go, acid filled thoughts out of control.

I built myself a nice little cage, with bars of anger and a lock of rage.

I cant help asking whos got the key, when I know damn well...its me.

No, I aint hinting for sympathy, im use to dealing with apathy.

The scars on my wrists may seem like a crime, just wish me better luck next time.

So what if I died a thousand deaths, you think im insane but I have no regrets.

One more time wont matter no question, suicide is self expression.

Its almost perfect except for this last line ;;D

Liz.... if yer gonna quote *Great Poetry*... please get it right (and complete):

Quote:
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

—Dylan Thomas

Ok, here's a couple of my fav's...

Beautiful Day- U2

The heart is a bloom
Shoots up through the stony ground
There’s no room
No space to rent in this town

You’re out of luck
And the reason that you had to care
The traffic is stuck
And you’re not moving anywhere

You thought you’d found a friend
To take you out of this place
Someone you could lend a hand
In return for grace

It’s a beautiful day
Sky falls you feel like
It’s a beautiful day
Don’t let it get away

You’re on the road
But you’ve got no destination
You’re in the mud
In the maze of her imagination

You love this town
Even if that doesn’t ring true
You’ve been all over
And it’s been all over you

It’s a beautiful day
Don’t let it get away
It’s a beautiful day

Touch me
Take me to that other place
Teach me
I know I’m not a hopeless case

See the world in green and blue
See china right in front of you
See the canyons broken by cloud
See the tuna fleets clearing the sea out
See the bedouin fires at night
See the oil fields at first light
And see the bird with a leaf in her mouth
After the flood all the colors came out

It was a beautiful day
Don’t let it get away
Beautiful day

Touch me
Take me to that other place
Reach me
I know I’m not a hopeless case

What you don’t have you don’t need it now
What you don’t know you can feel it somehow
What you don’t have you don’t need it now
Don’t need it now
Was a beautiful day

Strong Enough to Bend- Beth Neilson Chapman

There’s a tree out in the backyard
That never has been broken by the wind
And the reason it’s still standing
It was strong enough to bend

For years, we have stayed together
As lovers and as friends
What we have will last forever
If we’re strong enough to bend

When you say something that you can’t take back
Big wind blows and you hear a little crack
When you say hey well I might be wrong
You can sway with the wind till the storm is gone
Sway with the wind till the storm is gone

Like a tree out in the backyard
That never has been broken by the wind
Our love will last forever
If we’re strong enough to bend

When you start thinkin’ that you know it all
Big wind blows and a branch will fall
When you say hey this job takes two
We can sway with the wind till the skies turn blue
Sway with the wind till the skies turn blue

Like a tree out in the backyard
That never has been broken by the wind
Our love will last forever if we’re strong enough to bend

Gotta add in 1 more since my anniversary is on Sunday ;;D

When I Said I Do- Clint Black & Lisa Hartman Black

These times are troubled and these times are good
And they’re always gonna be, they rise and they fall
We take ’em all the way that we should
Together you and me forsaking them all
Deep in the night and by the light of day
It always looks the same, true love always does
And here by your side, or a million miles away
Nothin’s ever gonna change the way that I feel,
The way it is, is the way that it was

When I said I do, I meant that I will ’til the end of all time
Be faithful and true, devoted to you
That’s what I had in mind when I said I do

Well this old world keeps changin’, and the world stays the same
For all who came before, and it goes hand and hand
Only you and I can undo all that we became
That makes us so much more, than a woman and a man
And after everything that comes and goes around
Has only passed us by, here alone in our dreams
I know there’s a lonely heart in every lost and found
But forever you and I will be the ones
Who found out what forever means

When I said I do, I meant that I will ’til the end of all time
Be faithful and true, devoted to you
That’s what I had in mind when I said I do
Truer than true, you know that I’ll always be there for you
That’s what I had in mind, that’s what I had in mind,
When I said I do...

Great Thread!  I'm always reading quotes of some kind.

A few of my faves.....

"The world is a circle. Everyone walks in the same circle in the same footprints at some point in time. If you Sh*t along the way, you WILL eventually step in it." ~Author Unknown~

"Nothing has turned out as we expected! It never does. Life's under no obligation to give us what we expect. We take what we get and are thankful it's no worse than it is."~Gone With the Wind~

"Dare to be naive."~R. Buckminster Fuller~

My ALL time favorite is "Everything happens for a reason"  Cause there just HAS to be a reason for it all!!!!!!

and last but not least "What don't kill us only makes us stronger"

Ok I gotta add a fav song that me and the kids always sing.......

You Are My Sunshine

The other night dear
As I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms
When I awoke, dear
I was mistaken
So I hung my head and I cried.

You are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me happy
When skies are gray
You'll never know dear
How much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away

(Chorus)

So let the sun shine in
Face it with a grin
Smilers never loose
And Frowners never win
So let the sun shine in
Face it with a grin
Open up your heart and let the sun shine in

My mommy told me something
That little girls should know
It’s all about the devil
And I’ve learned to hate him so
I know he’ll be unhappy
‘Cause I’ll never wear a frown
Maybe if we keep on smiling
He’ll get tired of hangin’ round

(Repeat Chorus x2)

From the movies...

It's 106 miles to chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half pack of cigarette, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.....hit it.        -Elwood Blues

The Paradoxical Commandments

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have anyway.

Bill Gates

Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this.  Here’s some advice Bill Gates dished out at a high school graduation speech about 11 things they did not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this training has set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1:
Life is not fair—get used to it.

Rule 2:
The world won’t care about your self-esteem.  The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3:
You will NOT make 40 thousand dollars a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone, until you earn both.

Rule 4:
If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. He doesn’t have tenure.

Rule 5:
Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping - they called it opportunity.

Rule 6:
If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ fault, so quit whining.

Rule 7:
Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are now.  They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you are.  So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parents’ generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8:
Your school may have done away with winners and losers but life has not. In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they’ll give you as many tries as you want to get the right answer.  This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9:
Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10:
Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11:
Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.

Memories are just where you laid them
Dragging the waters til the depths give up their dead
What did you expect to find?
Was it something you left behind?
Don't you remember anything I said when I said,

Don't fall away and leave me to myself
Don't fall away and leave love bleeding in my hands, in my hands again
Love lies bleeding

Hold me now I feel contagious
Am I the only place that you've left to go?
She cries her life is like
Some movie in black and white
Dead actors faking lines, over and over and over again she cries

And I watched as you turned away
You don't remember, but I do
You never even tried

Fuel--Hemmorage in my hands

Tough, you think you’ve got the stuff
You’re telling me and anyone
You’re hard enough

You don’t have to put up a fight
You don’t have to always be right
Let me take some of the punches
For you tonight

Listen to me now
I need to let you know
You don’t have to go it alone

And it’s you when I look in the mirror
And it’s you when I don’t pick up the phone
Sometimes you can’t make it on your own

We fight all the time
You and I… that’s alright
We’re the same soul
I don’t need… I don’t need to hear you say
That if we weren’t so alike
You’d like me a whole lot more

Listen to me now
I need to let you know
You don’t have to go it alone

And it’s you when I look in the mirror
And it’s you when I don’t pick up the phone
Sometimes you can’t make it on your own

I know that we don’t talk
I’m sick of it all
Can - you - hear - me – when – I -
Sing, you’re the reason I sing
You’re the reason why the opera is in me…

Where are we now?
I’ve got to let you know
A house still doesn’t make a home
Don’t leave me here alone...

And it’s you when I look in the mirror
And it’s you that makes it hard to let go
Sometimes you can’t make it on your own
Sometimes you can’t make it
The best you can do is to fake it
Sometimes you can’t make it on your own

Miss Sarajevo - U2/Luciano Pavarotti

Is there a time for keeping your distance
A time to turn your eyes away.
Is there a time for keeping your head down
For getting on with your day.

Is there a time for kohl and lipstick
Is there time for cutting hair
Is there a time for high street shopping
To find the right dress to wear.

Here she comes, heads turn around
Here she comes, to take her crown.

Is there a time to run for cover
A time for kiss and tell.
A time for different colours
Different names you find hard to spell.

Is there a time for first communion
A time for East 17
Is there time to turn to Mecca
Is there time to be a beauty queen.

Here she comes, beauty plays the clown
Here she comes, surreal in her crown.

Dici che il fiume trova la via al mare
Che come il fiume giungerai a me
Oltre i confini e le terre assetate
L'amore giungerà, l'amore
E non so più pregare
E nell'amore non so più sperare
E quell'amore non so più aspettare.

Is there a time for tying ribbons
A time for Christmas trees.
Is there a time for laying tables
When the night is set to freeze

Hurt by Nine Inch Nails

i hurt myself today
to see if i still feel
i focus on the pain
the only thing that's real
the needle tears a hole
the old familiar sting
try to kill it all away
but i remember everything

what have i become?
my sweetest friend
everyone i know
goes away in the end
you could have it all
my empire of dirt
i will let you down
i will make you hurt

i wear this crown of shit
upon my liar's chair
full of broken thoughts
i cannot repair
beneath the stains of time
the feelings disappear
you are someone else
i am still right here

what have i become?
my sweetest friend
everyone i know
goes away in the end
and you could have it all
my empire of dirt
i will let you down
i will make you hurt

if i could start again
a million miles away
i would keep myself
i would find a way

Gave Up by Nine Inch Nails

perfect little dream
the kind that hurts the most
forgot how it feels
well almost
no one to blame
always the same
open my eyes
wake up
wake up
wake up
wake up
wake up in flames

it took you to make me realize
it took you to make me realize
it took you to make me realize
it took you to make me see the light

smashed up my sanity
smashed up integrity
smashed up what i believed in
smashed up what's left of me
smashed up my everything
smashed up all that was true
gonna smash myself to pieces
i don't know what else to do

covered with hope and vaseline
still cannot fix this broken machine
watching the hole it used to be mine
just watching it burn in my steady systematic decline
of the trust i will betray
give it to me i throw it away
after everything i've done
i hate myself for what i've become

it took you to make me realize
it took you to make me realize
it took you to make me realize
it took you to make me see the light

smashed up my sanity
smashed up integrity
smashed up what i believed in
smashed up what's left of me
smashed up my everything
smashed up all that was true
gonna smash myself to pieces
i don't know what else to do

i tried
i gave up
i tried
and i gave up

smashed up my sanity
smashed up integrity
smashed up what i believed in
smashed up what's left of me
smashed up my everything
smashed up all that was true
gonna smash myself to pieces
i don't know what else to do (throw it away)

There are so many songs that speak to me in so many different ways. Trent Reznor in my book is a musical genius and the album "The Downward Spiral" is a masterpiece. NIN and TOOL are two bands that really reflect how I feel sometimes.

Wow, tough call... but I'll go with "Dear God" by XTC:

Dear God, hope you got the letter and...
I pray you can make it better down here
I don't mean a big reduction in the price of beer
But all the people that you made in your image
See them starving on their feet
'Cause they don't get enough to eat from God,
I can't believe in you

Dear God, sorry to disturb you but...
I feel that I should be heard loud and clear
We all need a big reduction in amount of tears
And all the people that you made in your image
See them fighting in the street
'Cause they can't make opinions meet about God,
I can't believe in you

Did you make disease and the diamond blue?
Did you make mankind after we made you?
And the devil too!

Dear God, don't know if you've noticed but...
Your name is on a lot of quotes in this book
And us crazy humans wrote it, you should take a look
And all the people that you made in your image
Still believing that junk is true
Well I know it ain't and so do you, dear God
I can't believe in
I don't believe in

I won't believe in heaven and hell
No saints, no sinners, no devil as well
No pearly gates, no thorny crown
You're always letting us humans down
The wars you bring, the babes you drown
Those lost at sea and never found
And it's the same the whole world round
The hurt I see helps to compound
That Father, Son and Holy Ghost
Are just somebody's unholy hoax
And if you're up there you'd perceive
That my heart's here upon my sleeve
If there's one thing I don't believe in

It's you
Dear God

Sarah McLachlan did a killer version of this song, too.

Joe... not really an atheist, just not a follower of organized religion

Beer For My Horses/ Willie & Toby

Justice is the one thing you should always find
You got to saddle up your boys
You got to draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we'll sing a victory tune
We'll all meet back at the local saloon
We'll raise up our glasses against evil forces
Singing whiskey for my men, beer for my horses

Of course, I'm drinkin Margaritas right now cause I can't have a fucking smoke dammit!!! >:(

Husker Du

Shes A Woman (and Now He Is A Man)

I can see her loading boxes in my mind
Into a belvedere with a trailer pulled behind
Well things didn't go exactly as they planned
She's a woman and now he is a man

There's a vacancy between them everyday
And a sense of guilt that's not going away
When they get older perhaps they'll understand
She's a woman and now he is a man

And now he's into something that her heart cannot forgive
She's saying to herself, "no, this is not the way to live"
He'll never listen to her 'cause his mind is like a sieve
Oh brother! oh brother! i'm telling your sister
No way can i resist her

With a guilty feeling hanging in their brain
And the two of them are potentially insane
Well they've had enough which is more than they can stand
She's a woman and now he is a man

SOCIAL DISTORTION
Mommy's Little Monster

Mommy's little monster dropped out of school,
Mommy's little monster broke all the rules.
He loves to go out drinking with the boys,
He loves to go out & make some noise.
He doesn't wanna be a doctor or a lawyer get fat & rich.
He's 20 years old & he quit his job,
Unemployment pays his rent!
CHORUS: His brothers & sisters have tasted sweet success,
His parents condemn him, say, "his live's a mess!"
He's mommy's little monster, he's not afraid to admit it.
He's mommy's little monster, don't wake him in a fit!!!
Mommy's little monster shoots methadrine,
Mommy's little monster had sex at 15
She left home for the streets,
She couldn't deal with all the heat.
She has fun with the boys in the band,
In her eyes it will never end.
Her dad asked what happened to her face,
I could have happened in any place!!!
CHORUS: Her eyes are a deeper blue, she likes her hair that color too.
She can even wear a dress, that doesn't mean she'll confess.
She's Mommy's little monster
She's Mommy's little monster
She's Mommy's little monster DON'T TAKE HER LIFE AWAY

Northern Sky

I never felt magic crazy as this
I never saw moons knew the meaning of the sea
I never held emotion in the palm of my hand
Or felt sweet breezes in the top of a tree
But now you're here
Brighten my northern sky.

I've been a long time that I'm waiting
Been a long that I'm blown
I've been a long time that I've wandered
Through the people I have known
Oh, if you would and you could
Straighten my new mind's eye.

Would you love me for my money
Would you love me for my head
Would you love me through the winter
Would you love me 'til I'm dead
Oh, if you would and you could
Come blow your horn on high.

I never felt magic crazy as this
I never saw moons knew the meaning of the sea
I never held emotion in the palm of my hand
Or felt sweet breezes in the top of a tree
But now you're here
Brighten my northern sky.

A dream for the blind
Visions from a dying brain
I hope you don't understand"

"Take me away

Far from everyone
By myself and leave a gun"

Radiohead "Talk Show Host"

"Talk Show Host"

I want to, I want to be someone else or I'll explode
Floating upon the surface for
The birds, the birds, the birds

You want me, well fucking well come and find me
I'll be waiting with a gun and a pack of sandwiches
And nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing

You want me, well, come on and break the door down
You want me, fucking come on and break the door down
I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready...

________________________________

Radiohead: "Creep"

When you were here before
Couldn't look you in the eye
You're just like an angel
Your skin makes me cry
You float like a feather
In a beautiful world
I wish I was special
You're so fucking special
But I 'm a creep
I 'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here

I don't care if it hurts
I want to have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul
I want you to notice
When I'm not around
You're so fucking special
I wish I was special

But I'm a creep
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here

She's running out again
She's running out
She run, run, run run
Run

Whatever makes you happy
Whatever you want
You're so fucking special
I wish I was special
But I'm a creep
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here
I don't belong here.

How interesting. I opened this thread while this song is playing in the background (hears twilight zone music...)

Sung by a computerized voice:

Fitter Happier

Fitter, happier, more productive,
comfortable,
not drinking too much,
regular exercise at the gym
(3 days a week),
getting on better with your associate employee contemporaries,
at ease,
eating well
(no more microwave dinners and saturated fats),
a patient better driver,
a safer car
(baby smiling in back seat),
sleeping well
(no bad dreams),
no paranoia,
careful to all animals
(never washing spiders down the plughole),
keep in contact with old friends
(enjoy a drink now and then),
will frequently check credit at (moral) bank (hole in the wall),
favors for favors,
fond but not in love,
charity standing orders,
on Sundays ring road supermarket
(no killing moths or putting boiling water on the ants),
car wash
(also on Sundays),
no longer afraid of the dark or midday shadows
nothing so ridiculously teenage and desperate,
nothing so childish - at a better pace,
slower and more calculated,
no chance of escape,
now self-employed,
concerned (but powerless),
an empowered and informed member of society
(pragmatism not idealism),
will not cry in public,
less chance of illness,
tires that grip in the wet
(shot of baby strapped in back seat),
a good memory,
still cries at a good film,
still kisses with saliva,
no longer empty and frantic like a cat tied to a stick,
that's driven into frozen winter shit
(the ability to laugh at weakness),
calm,
fitter,
healthier and more productive
a pig in a cage on antibiotics.

I just rediscovered Radioheads disc "OK Computer" a concept album about the desensitizing of humans by machines. Was this album an ironic prophecy of what we would become?

This song has become my favoret this year!

Daddys Hands

I remember daddy's hands
folded silently in prayer
And reachin' out to hold me,
when I had a nightmare
You could read quite a story
in the callous' and lines
Years of work and worry
had left their mark behind

I remember daddy's hands
how they held my mama tight
And patted my back
for something done right
There are things that I'd forgotten
that I loved about the man
But I'll always remember
the love in daddy's hands...

Chorus
Daddy's hands were soft and kind
when I was cryin'
Daddy's hands were hard as steel
when I'd done wrong
Daddy's hands weren't always gentle
but I've come to understand
There was always love in daddy's hands.

I remember daddy's hands
workin' 'til they bled

Sacrificed unselfishly
just to keep us all fed
If I could do things over, I'd live my life again
And never take for granted
the love in daddy's hands

(Chorus)
Daddy's hands were soft and kind
when I was cryin'
Daddy's hands were hard as steel
when I'd done wrong
Daddy's hands weren't always gentle
but I've come to understand
There was always love in daddy's hands.

(Repeat Chorus)
Daddy's hands were soft and kind
when I was cryin'
Daddy's hands were hard as steel
when I'd done wrong
Daddy's hands weren't always gentle
but I've come to understand
There was always love in daddy's hands.

Below is my favoret quote !

"Your family and your love must be cultivated like a garden. Time, effort, and imagination must be summoned constantly to keep any relationship flourishing and growing."

Still They Ride- Journey

Jesse rides through the night
Under the main street light
Ridin’ slow

This ol’ town, ain’t the same
Now nobody knows his name
Times have changed, still he rides.

Traffic lights, keepin’ time
Leading the wild and restless
Through the night

Still they ride, on wheels of fire
They rule the night
Still they ride, the strong will survive
Chasing thunder

Spinning ’round, in a spell
It’s hard to leave this carrousel
’round and ’round
And ’round and ’round

Still they ride, on wheels of fire
They rule the night
Still they ride, the strong will survive
Chasing thunder through the night
