Title: Be careful of Beta blockers Post by BarbaraD on Jan 22nd, 2005, 8:00am A few months ago my neuro put me on Nadol for my blood pressure (I was getting hit when I was in his office and my bp was up too high to suit him). No problem - no side effects -- bp doing fine. Two days ago I woke up, sat up and promptly fell out of bed cutting my arm on the dresser. I had NO equilibrium at all. After getting to the doc, they discovered that my heart rate was only 46 and this was the reason for the vertigo. I'm in and out of vertigo right now. It's been three days now. I just don't move my head real fast and I'm on a cane to walk - my balance is way off. Be careful people. Some of these med we take seem so innocent and then something like this happens. I'll be ok as soon as I get this *(&& out of my system (and that has to be gradual), but right now I'm a complete drunk and am not having any fun - can't even dance. ;) I'm not whinning - I'm just warning you guys to READ the contridictions on the meds your docs give you. From now on I sure will. Hugs BD |

Title: Re: Be careful of Beta blockers Post by Renee on Jan 22nd, 2005, 8:06am Good Morning Dizzy Barb, I'm so sorry to hear of your meds problem. I can't take anything that lowers my b/p as my b/p is already low, except when getting hit. Stay in bed and cuddle with that Grandson! ;) Where are you this weekend? home or the other home? hehe hugs Renee |

Title: Re: Be careful of Beta blockers Post by Karla on Jan 22nd, 2005, 8:28am I pray that you will find peace and confort soon. I have had vertigo several times due to meds and inner ear problems. Where it lasts for a couple of weeks to work it out. It is embarassing to say the least. Boy can I relate. Just count on my prayers. |

Title: Re: Be careful of Beta blockers Post by Redd715 on Jan 22nd, 2005, 8:42am I had the same sort of thing happen with Verap a few days ago. Had been getting hit a bit more often again and was told to up the dose, but woke up in the morning after a few days of this feeling like I was about to pass out every time I moved. not really a dizzyness, but more of things going white and my legs wanting to go out from under me. BP dropped threw the floor. (I have to be sooo careful with that I run low to start with) Barbara please take care of yourself. [smiley=hug.gif] I'm still not feeling up to par and I'm NOT risking the roads to go to the office today feeling like this after last nights storm. |

Title: Re: Be careful of Beta blockers Post by BarbaraD on Jan 22nd, 2005, 11:27am The weird thing is my bp is still high, but my heart rate is at about 48-50 which is too damn low (should be around 80). I stayed in Texas this weekend cause I can't ride in a vehicle without getting really drunk. Had to come to the office to write some income tax checks and it was fun - with my stick and someone holding on to me. I sitting really still until these nice people get here to pick up their checks and I can go home. Am staying on O2 at the house (on a low dose) Don't know if it helps but gives me something to do. Maybe I shouldn't have talked about Nancy C being a dizzy blonde after all. Paybacks are hell..... Hugs BD |

Title: Re: Be careful of Beta blockers Post by nani on Jan 22nd, 2005, 11:50am Hold on tight, Barb, while this stuff leaves your system. It's odd that your BP is still high....will all the beta blockers do that to you, or just that one? I ask because I'm on Verap for high BP and CH...and my BP is still marginally high. I was going to talk to the doc about a beta blocker next...hmmm....maybe I'll wait. I'm already a dizzy brunette. Prayers for your equilibrium...love, nani |
