LOL! No.... It never snows, (at least not more than a few inches or so...) but the snot sticks to your face! Heh..

And yeah, Leonard Wood has to be the single most depressing place I've ever been in the winter!

The smell of Simple Green, leather, wool, "Break-Free," and paste wax will forever live in my memory as the smell of Fort Leonard Wood.

Navy 89-94.  Aviation Electronics Tech, I flew over lots of hot zones (Red Sea-Iraq, Bosnia, Haiti, Somalia) but that's about it.   Worked hard at my job but I never felt my life was threatened.

Very clever.  There was a peace-keeping operation in Haiti in 1994, technically it was 'hot'.   My point was that during my service I did not serve in actual combat, not that Haiti was a life-threatening situation.

John,
Just having fun with it.
Haiti is virtually in my back yard so I know it well.

I've got nothing but respect for all you guys and gals that have served and are now serving.

My hope is that our military can resume its  nonactive ready status as soon as possible.

Sure was. Got to celebrate my 21st birthday on guard duty standing on top of a 5 story medical laboratory building.
I left there a month later for the infantry and got to celebrate Mini-Tet at the Y-bridge over the Saigon river. Have to tell you, that house to house street fights really sucks. I know what our soldiers are in for in Bagdad and other cities in Iraq. Not a nice place to be.

My respects to former and active-duty US servicemen and women. I was in several wars (Afghanistan, Nicaragua, Colombia, South Africa's invasion of Lesotho) but instead of a gun carried a notebook.
