Title: Tightrope
Post by Jeepgun on Jan 18th, 2005, 9:19am
Tightrope

Step ever so lightly
Carefully, gritting my teeth
In concentration
Calculaton
Perspiration beading

Planting one foot in
Front of the other
The wire glistens
A silver blade
A new garotte
A gleaming bridge that
Vibrates and hums beneath me

Step...
Don't look down
Step...
This is not a rehearsal
Step...

The hard floor that longs
To smash me like pottery sings its slow
Intoxicating, hypnotic song, so inviting,
And my palms
Run cold with sweat
Step...

One last step, reaching
Grabbing for your outstretched hand, too far....
Dig my fingernails into the very
Tips of your fingers
As I hang
By a thread...

Wow Frank...

What were you thinking when writing this?  It reminded me of someone...

Wow. Then this isn't about having sex at a railroad crossing? I'm embarrassed.  ::)

How do you do this Frank? Some day they will find you dead in your room surrounded by these pearls of wisdom and only we will know the answers.

This stuff deserves a publisher.

You give me far too much credit, Charlie, but thank you...

This was written at strange and difficult time in my life, where I literally felt like I was walking a tightrope, where each step and each day and each word was fraught with danger of exploding in my face.

I came through it mostly unscathed, with a little wisdom and a few scars to prove that I survived. :) Life is good.

Thanks again,
-Frank
