Title: Another season to start this week...
Post by Lizzie2 on Jan 16th, 2005, 8:37pm
Lacrosse!  Anyone a fan?  My boyfriend has had season tickets to the Philadelphia Wings for a few years now, so apparently I'm going to learn to love it!  I'm not going to the season opener this week, but I will be there on David's birthday, which is the 28th.

So..um...Go Wings!  (I never even heard of the wings till this year!)

But then, I like the Kicks and some other soccer teams...nobody ever knows about soccer unless it is ManU! ;)

Lizzie :)

Lacrosse. People running around on a field "accidentally" smacking the shit out of each other with a netted stick, while supposedly chasing after a large Golf ball.

I love lacrosse...

And Medic, you are maybe thinking of field hockey?

They are both "new england" north east type sports, but somehow Philly made the cut.  Never knew what either sport was until I moved out here in '92...my mom told me I was too old to start playing.  I was 11.

My brother and I used to play lacrosse tosses in the backyard for hours on end.  But we also played roller hockey in the driveway, and "diving headers" to practice heading the ball in the goal for soccer.  I blame that on why I have bad headaches!  haha

Lots of sports.....

My favourites to do personally are still figure skating (lots of that on now!) and swimming. :)

Another one of those silly things to avoid....geeze.
If you can't throw it, bat it or kick it, it ain't a real sport..... http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/spear.gif  :D

I've become a ManU fan by default.  I saw them play the opener in the "Link" here in Philly to open the stadium for the first time.  It pissed the hell out of Eagles fans that the first game in their new "stadium" was soccer...or the real "Football" ;)

Can't help it...been loving the sport since I was about 5. :)  My whole family is soccer-obsessed.  My brother only quit because he had torn both ACLs and had both shins ripped open for surgery.  After that much injury...it's time to take a break and go for intramurals!!  He played varsity at UPitt for a few years before he had to stop.  Craziness.

Plus, all my worldly travels took place for soccer tournaments! :)

My brother and I both now plan to retire to the "OC" by age 25.  haha

Philly/Wings????

Oh yes,  brings back memories, an icy 1997.  I believe the Wings played it with a big broom.  It was called lalosse in Philly back then.  The broom was so successful for the Wings in Philly, they used it again when they lacrossed over to Washington DC the following year.

Was lacrosse once Canada's national game a long time ago?

Alls I really know is that my dad is from Syracuse.

He grew up with a lacrosse stick in his hand. :)

I tried my hand at Field Hockey once....this kid decided to "drive" a ball at my calf from maybe 15 feet away.  I fell on impact...and I had an imprint of the field hockey ball for couple of months after that!  Was never a huge fan of field hockey after that moment...!
