After a long week of being stuck in the house with two sick kids and an angry boss calling hourly because I was unable to come to the office, I ended my work week with a WONDERFULLY UNEXPECTED SURPRISE!!

This evening I got a call from Gator (Mike) who told me he was only a few minutes from my apartment here in Dallas!! I hurried up, grabbed a sitter for the kids, brushed my hair and teeth and ran out the door to meet with him to have a coke and a smile! :)

We met up at a gas station off of the side of the freeway and he followed me to a little Mexican Cantina (the only thing open besides McDonalds) where we went in and sat down and talked and talked and talked! Funny how when Clusterheads meet in person for the first time, the nervousness disappears almost immediately!

Mike is a wonderfully witty guy with a great outlook on life. His face beams when he talks about his family and The love he has for them is truly inspirational. I am so glad I can count him among my friends!!

We talked about our headaches (of course :) ) and our families and medications and when we first found CH.com and the message board and TONS of other stuff. We never had a lull in the conversation, and could have probably talked all night. But, the little cantina was ready to close so we moved the conversation to the parking lot!! LOL we weren't done talking yet! Another 45 minutes later...and since Mike had to drive back home tonight (he is on the road now-safe journey to you) we called it an early evening. I am SO GLAD I had the opportunity to meet him. He is truly a good friend to me and has been for quite some time . :)

If you ever get the chance to meet up with another CH'er ...DO IT!! It is like finding a long lost member of your family! See you all in Dallas!!

Yes, meeting another clusterhead, especially the first time, is awesome.

Words on a computer screen can't come close to displaying the mutual connection, understanding and compassion that meeting another ch'er can bring.

I hope you had a safe return home, Gator. It's a shame you didn't get to meet "little man".

Can you remember back to Oct, 2003? And how scared you were to meet with Steve, Mik and me in Tyler?

For those of you who don't know - DD almost backed out of meeting her first CHer, because she thought we might be axe murderers. Once she walked in to the restaurant, all her fears disappeared.

I agree with DD - - if you EVER get a chance to meet up with other CHers DO IT... You know at the moment of meeting that YOU ARE NOT ALONE or crazy - there are others like you out there.

I'm jealous. I seem to have been fated with bad timing and a sucky location when it comes to meeting CHers.

I'm always in awe when I meet a cluster buddy, which was why I spent most of NashCon in an elated blissful haze. It's like meeting other war veterans who have BEEN THERE. In one week I will be surrounded by ~~crazies~~ clusterbuds. I can't wait.

WOW!!!!

That is so great DD...I can't wait to meet up with more of this family. I love you all soo much! You guys saved my life and my sanity this spring, and there is so much I have yet to repay so many for.

It's Great to hear that Mike was able to make the drive to meet such a wonderful gal.

Hope there were plenty of laughter, tears and hugs.

Yesterday.

I met Linda Howell and her new hubby in Vegas. Linda and I have known each other since this website started but had never seen each other. It was GREAT meeting her in person. But,
she probably thinks I talk too much.

That is FANTASTIC, Bob. Linda is a wonderful person, and no, I doubt if she thought that you talk too much. It's always so awesome to meet another clusterhead who just Knows, really Knows, what you've been through and how it feels. We all spend so much time as individuals, locked inside the prison of our own pain, with no one around us understanding at all, that to meet another clusterhead is something that is valuable beyond anything that words could ever say.

Gator, I bet your smiling ear to ear. Isn't it just fabulous to met another one who Knows what you're saying. And I know Bob is thrilled. Linda is just too cool. :)

I think talking your head off is one of the Clusterhead traits. [smiley=laugh.gif]

Glad you all had a chance to meet face to face. It's just so much different than typing huh.

I have to say that despite everything y'all have told me, DD is a wondeful girl. ;;D She dropped everything at a few moments notice and as she said, we talked until they kicked us out of the cantina and we talked some more in the parking lot. It's like there was this instant bond. We talked for over two hours and it seemed like only a few minutes.

Well, obviously I made it safely home and with a surprise for my wife. Our oldest boy got a ride from Fort Polk, LA to Oklahoma City and I picked him up on the way back home. Jane didn't know he was coming. I'm a sneaky bastage. This morning Jane was in the kitchen when Kenny walked in the room and said good morning. I heard a loud surprised yet joyful scream and then she came in the bedroom and whopped me for her wonderful surprise. Don't ask what she does when she's actually mad! [smiley=laugh.gif]

I know two people who claim they are clusterheads, I am not sure whether either is though. I have never disputed their claim.

In a few more years I will show up at a meet and greet or a convention.

I don't want to meet a clusterhead, I want to meet a room full of them. ;;D

I was told about firebrix (also in New Zealand) when I first came here, turns out she visits my neck of the woods from time to time so Im looking forward to meeting her

Gator, sorry for you! Of all the Clusterheads to meet, you had to meet THAT woman! You poor guy! Too bad that when you went to the barrel of Clusterheads, you had to get the bottom of the barrel first!

Well, at least, all the rest that you meet, will be an improvement!

That's great for all of you!! I know how it feels. I met my "friends" north of Milwaukee in October and although it did not help my pain, it was the best thing mentally that has happened to me in the eleven years of this nightmare. What a special feeling.
