Title: Re: Ever Been attacked while driving? Post by taraann on Jan 13th, 2005, 12:51am Oh yeah, been late getting home too many times to count because I got Hit with a ch or a bout of dizziness (seperate health issue). If its bad enough to affect my driving I just pull over ASAP and wait it out. I'm always paranoid a cop is gonna come knocking at my window and think I'm on something lol. |

Title: Re: Ever Been attacked while driving? Post by PrettyH8Machine on Jan 13th, 2005, 12:53am Had several. Even lost a good courier job due to a hit on the job. Had to pull off the highway and sat in a parking lot riding the bitch out. I even called the South County courier, covered all my bases - so it wasn't like I just bailed. Though after my rep kept calling me on the cell bitching me out, I got pissed and threw the phone. I was fired that evening. This happened even AFTER I told them upon my hiring the nature of my condition, and it was understood. When they fired me they told me I was considered a high risk, due to having headaches and driving. DUH! I told them that was why I pulled over. I am not a danger to anyone on the roads, as I pull over if I get hit. The sad part of it was, I had only had to pull over and bail twice the whole time I was with the company. That happened shortly before going chronic. Peace, CD |

Next time, pull over and bang those meds. If you keep driving, the person you accidentally kill might be me. I don't plan to live forever, but I'm not exactly standing in the Express lane. Live longer, and prosper......... RJ |

And the way I drive, it'll prolly be me that slams into you in the middle of a cluster. Or if you EVER came down to the city, I could be the one running you over, but how is that different from the cabbies? hehe Actually I don't have my car down here. When I was at Penn State, I always was getting hit at the same times, and I'd be on that drive into the ice rink at whatever time it was. I'd be in the left turning lane and just yell loudly and smack the freaking steering wheel. There was never a place to pull over between my apartment and the skating rink. I'd get to the rink and my friends would be like, "Uhhh...we'd rather you not put on skates with sharp blades until your face looks normal again." haha The fun began when I got them while skating, but that's a story for another day! When I would get to the Northshore, I'd pull into the Shell station, buy a large Mountain Dew, sit on the tail gate and slam the down the Dew before I went the rest of the way home. The gas station attendent wondered, wtf are them kinda headaches...? Steve G |

Title: Re: Ever Been attacked while driving? Post by Jeepgun on Jan 13th, 2005, 8:59am I've been nailed while driving, in the middle of business meetings, formal dinners, and while in the middle of water skiing. (That sucked. I wiped out at 40 mph) |

Title: Re: Ever Been attacked while driving? Post by cschick on Jan 13th, 2005, 9:59am couple months ago driving along all fine then WHAM! I was right by a fire station, ripped into the parking, flung the door open and ran to the door screaming for O2. Scared the holy crap out of the firemen but they were very happy when I brought them chocolate chocolate chip cookies dipped in white chocolate the next weekend. They thought that little treat was worth having to deal with crazy, snot nosed, droopy eyed, cussing woman! ;;D Gotta love when the beast rides shotgun! Karen |

Title: Re: Ever Been attacked while driving? Post by Hirvimaki on Jan 13th, 2005, 10:02am Since a change in pressure (altitude) usually means I'll get hit when I am in cycle, and since I love to go four-wheeling over really, really high mountain passes, I get hit all the time while driving. Coming down off of Black Bear in Colorado I went from a little tickle of a shadow to a high KIP and had to pull over and let me wife finish the drive. Even changes of as little as 3,000 feet will sometimes set off an attack. I've only been hit while city driving a couple of times. I realised that a car's AC blowing on my face will set off an attack. Hirvimaki-Isi |

Title: Re: Ever Been attacked while driving? Post by Redd715 on Jan 13th, 2005, 11:34am Yep happened once and only once...(so far) There was no way to pull over, as it was in the middle of a construction zone on the way to work. One of the three lanes of traffic was shut down and there were concrete barriers put up on both sides of the two open lanes, and I, was in the left lane and no where to go but forward... Amazing what one has the capacity to do when there are no other options. |

Title: Re: Ever Been attacked while driving? Post by vig on Jan 13th, 2005, 11:36am iI drive a LOT, so t's happened so many times I can't count. It's not just driving, it's an adventure! only a few times has it been SOOOO bad that I had to pull over, but some people PAY for that kind of thrill at Great America! beep beep! watch it! I'm coming through! one time I was at a red light waiting to turn and the guy behind me didn't stop in time, minor fender bender, but during the hit, I was, a bit aggressive... due to the CH, and I nearly ripped his throat out.... I'm usually mild-mannered, but not at THAT moment |

Title: Re: Ever Been attacked while driving? Post by high_commander on Jan 13th, 2005, 12:34pm The only time I drove during a "hit" was before I was diagnosed. I felt I couldn't, but home was a quarter mile away, on an empty country road. 10 pm. I just wanted to be near a phone so I could get my boys to call for help. (couldn't hold the cell phone, let alone punch the buttons, in the right order.) Thankfully, the one vehicle to come down the road was my husband...found me, creeping along about 5mph on the left side of the gravel road.... Scared the crap out of my family that night. Dr. was freaked out enough to get me a MRI within 3 weeks. (waiting list is usually 6+ months) So no meds, no clue as to what was happening.... that would be awful if you knew what was going to happen, and were stuck in traffic...yipes!! Danielle |

Title: Re: Ever Been attacked while driving? Post by echo on Jan 13th, 2005, 12:49pm Yes - several times. My most memorable experience is when I got hit K10 during rush hour on the beltway. I pulled over to pray for death. Shortly thereafter a tow truck driver approched my vehicle from the rear. Asked if I was getting hit. I said yes. He helped me to his vehicle and took me home, roughly 13 miles, dropped me off in front of the house and left. I went inside and did the basement concrete dance. The next morning my vehicle was in the driveway with a note attached to the steering wheel. "My father suffered from these for years, helping you was like helping him" (something like that). I then remembered I had a Clusterheadaches.com sticker on the bumper of my car. To this day I do not know who he was or the company he worked for. |

Title: Re: Ever Been attacked while driving? Post by Leesa on Jan 13th, 2005, 1:03pm Dave has been hit several times while driving. Pulled off the road to the nearest fire dept. got the ice and O2. Usually 30 minutes to an hour later back on the road. After the hit Dave is still kinda "tender" so when that happens I take over the driving part. Leesa |

Title: Re: Ever Been attacked while driving? Post by BlueMeanie on Jan 13th, 2005, 2:01pm Honestly I hate to admit it, but I have driven several times during an attack. Felt like putting the pedal to the metal and ramming something. Luckily I never did. Anytime Cindy is with me, she sees me either rubbing my temple, or pushing the back of my neck. She starts yelling and tells me to pull over so she can drive. I then give myself a shot and it either goes away, or I'm stuck in the back seat flopping like a fish out of water until we get where we're going. If I'm by myself, I drive to the nearest MickeyD's restroom to do the Trex. :o DON'T CH & DRIVE, Great story Echo. |

Title: Re: Ever Been attacked while driving? Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Jan 13th, 2005, 10:34pm I had an attack while I was outta the house and had to haul ass home to get O2. It hurt really bad and it was nighttime so the lights were glaring and I had tunnel-vision. Luckily I made it and got on the O2 for 30 mins and was totally fine. Hint: If you drive really, really fast, you reduce the amount of time you are on the road....and thus reduce the amount of time you are in danger. So, reduce the danger and drive fast! Title: Re: Ever Been attacked while driving? Post by Mr. Happy on Jan 13th, 2005, 11:22pm OK........Portland. Don't matter whether it's Maine or Oregon, you're way the hell out of my driving territory. When yer careening down the highway, just make sure you're on the outer lane.......the one with no guard rail and a looooooong drop. Should provide a great pic, RJ |

Title: Re: Ever Been attacked while driving? Post by ccbiggsoo7 on Jan 14th, 2005, 1:59pm Happened the other day. Pulled over at the local petsmart and shot up, head on the steering wheel bent over in excruating pain had 2 bystanders knock on my window asking me if I was still alive. Petsmart employees all looking out the window at me wondering if they should call the ambulance. Felt like a total dipshit, but what do ya do. |
