Title: Other Message Boards/Forums..... Post by Woobie on Jan 7th, 2005, 10:26pm I went searching for another message board like this one for my ailment(s).... and I cant find one........... but I have found a lot of other interesting boards..... I found a Kansas City Chiefs message board for Ramon. I found a chevy car owner board (very BUSY board too) for RAMON........ found a couple boards for my issues, but no one has posted on them in months... i need FEEDBACK -.... geesh. now I'm addicted. I've learned a lot - So I was wondering - do any of you belong to other message boards? Have you ever found one like CH.com?? The ones that I've found - they arent nearly as "family" like as this one.... the other message boards I've participated in are cold - lifeless....... technical. I love this place. tina :-* |

Title: Re: Other Message Boards/Forums..... Post by Redneck on Jan 7th, 2005, 10:35pm I go to a ham radio board, it's pretty good but gets a little slow. Occasionally it gets heated up when the FCC and the Amateur Radio Relay League pull their bull$h*t. |

Title: Re: Other Message Boards/Forums..... Post by taraann on Jan 8th, 2005, 12:17pm Seems like any message board I find when it comes to headpain is migraines or just plain headaches. They all suck lol. I used to belong to a NHmoms message board, that was my first. Great bunch of gals, had girls night outs and playgroups. Also went camping with a few of them a couple times (our families all went). These ladies sent me all kinds of cards, food, and support when my mom died. Then it got too huge and then very catty. The origional members should have just branched off, but it never worked out. I miss that group! I found a great MS support site, and now I'm looking for a good Lupus site. Just for more than the technical info you find. I need personal stories. |

Title: Re: Other Message Boards/Forums..... Post by Jeepgun on Jan 8th, 2005, 2:15pm I was just talking with someone last night, and said that one of the coolest things about this board, is that we've all been humbled by deep pain. There's no pretense, no "us and them," and no artificiality. Deep pain has stripped us of those things, and made us more vulnerable, more deeply human, and more compassionate. We are a family of survivors, warriors, and although we sometimes get beaten to our knees by this pain, we always rise to our feet again and carry on for another day. I think there are very few groups of people in this world that can share that kind of bond. (or bondage, if you're into that sorta' thing...) [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: Other Message Boards/Forums..... Post by Redd715 on Jan 8th, 2005, 4:02pm I used to be a volenteer counselor in a broken heart rercovery message board. The board is slow moving, but the real action was in the crisis room chat. many nights are just a few us regulars, and then some of the newfolks pop in with a real dilema. One night pulled a 16 year old girl back from the brink of suicide, her popping in the chat room being her last attempt at reaching out for someone, anyone to listen to her and take her seriously that she was in heart pain. I haven't been there as often since spring, but I dod pop in from time to time to catch up with the other counselors there. One of my best Bud's from Scotland is still helping out there. |

Title: Re: Other Message Boards/Forums..... Post by Sylvan on Jan 8th, 2005, 4:04pm I do participate in other message boards - and one in particular is at least as close and as much of a family as this one. The common thread - i think - is in sharing a particular hardship. The other board is for caregivers of diabetic cats. Over the years it has developed into quite a familly. In addition to sharing advice on treatment and coaching newly dx'd folks through the hard stuff - we have shared all of the joys and sorrows of each others' lives - many have met - both one-on-one and in groups. Overall - very much like what happens here. Of course - those folks are mostly crazy cat ladies :D |

Could be it's so busy cause their cars are all broken down by the side of the road and they need to question someone else to find the answer to WTF is wrong with it and how to fix it. Just an objective observation. NOT....... lmao. Linda |

Title: Re: Other Message Boards/Forums..... Post by Woobie on Jan 8th, 2005, 4:42pm Hey Linda The FORD board was way busier than the chevy board... more members - more posts........ Just LOOK at em all!!!!!!! http://search.big-boards.com/result.php?q=ford hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :P [smiley=crackup.gif] |

Title: Re: Other Message Boards/Forums..... Post by BobG on Jan 8th, 2005, 7:21pm Ok girls, settle down. Just to be the unbiased, calm minded gentleman that I am I checked both the Chevy and Ford sites. I found the Ford site was a much busier place than the Chevy site. I ran a quick poll of the entries and found the reason. The Ford fans were busy talking about how fast their cars were, how comfortable and dependable they are. The Chevy fans were all all asking the same question... "Got the phone number for Triple A?" |

Title: Re: Other Message Boards/Forums..... Post by Lizzie2 on Jan 9th, 2005, 9:26am Well...you can find me as CarrieHost or formerly as chronicchic on www.headaches.about.com but I strongly recommend nobody from THIS message board go over there!!! I've had to delete my posts because I seriously just want to smack people upside the head. I have never seen such whiners in my whole life!!! "Oh I'm on disability and I'm 21. Your headaches CAN'T be that bad because you still go to school and have a job." SOB I'll give you one cluster and then we'll see what's what....... haha Honestly that's why I went into neonatal nursing. I can't deal with that shit. I'd have to have a cluster-only headache practice. And then I'd be damn straight with anyone who came in. "Here's your handbook...go join the website...learn all you can...I'll do what *I* can to help you...and that's that." Oh yeah I'd also be the NP with the piercings and the tatoos (when I get one!) haha So yeah on the site I am a host at, it is 99% migraine sufferers. When someone brings up clusters, the majority of the time they do not have them or they are just discussing them to see if "maybe" they have them and they can whine about that too. Those posts I kill quickly. haha I also belong to an Avascular Necrosis site, but I haven't felt like facing the reality with that one yet, so I don't read the posts or emails. Nothing like the family here!!!! |
