Title: Re: Jeep Of The Day: 1/4/05 Post by Jeepgun on Jan 4th, 2005, 1:50pm A neighbor down the street from me has an old International Scout that's been totally restored, (Tweety-bird yellow) but I've never seen him drive it. If I ever see him outside, I'm going to ask if he wants to sell it. My Jeep is a '99, and I'm never getting rid of it. :) |

Well, yeah... But if you're out in the middle of bumf*ck Egypt with two punctured sidewalls and call for a tow, they might have a hard time finding you. Eh... Not that I'm speaking from experience, or anything... [smiley=laugh.gif] 8) |

Title: Re: Jeep Of The Day: 1/4/05 Post by BobG on Jan 5th, 2005, 10:04pm It's for strip mining in coal fiels. Just drive it up to a ledge and turn that claw on and it eats earth. It's been features on the Discovery (I think)) channel on the Monster Machine program (or something like that). |

Title: Re: Jeep Of The Day: 1/4/05 Post by Charlie on Jan 5th, 2005, 10:23pm This looks like something from a Mony Python film. If you get "Modern Marvels" on TV, similar Rube Goldberg stuff is seen; along with "Jonny and Donny's Bathouse Tours of New England." http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/makeout.gif Charlie |

Title: Re: Jeep Of The Day: 1/4/05 Post by Ueli on Jan 6th, 2005, 1:12pm That monster in Ronny's pics is used in Germany to turn a beautiful countryside into a crater landscape. As a byproduct they get some brown coal or lignite that on burning produces a lot of smoke, dust and green house effect promoting carbon dioxide. Also a small amount of heat is produced, and that is apparently enough reason for such an ecological crime (but at least it has nothing to do with 'atoms'). The pictures are from a dislocation to a new site of destruction. I saw on TV a feature about this journey, and was fascinated :). I love to watch such big machines at work. |

Title: Re: Jeep Of The Day: 1/4/05 Post by Jeepgun on Jan 6th, 2005, 1:18pm Wow... Pretty sad that it's being used to wreak such destruction. :( Still, that thing is such an impressive machine! Awful and fascinating at the same time... :-/ |
