Title: I'm still waiting for my Christmas present
Post by ExplodingEyeBall on Dec 28th, 2004, 9:33am
I'm still waiting for this.

Now who was going to shell out the 60k for it so I could have it? Another 20k for the original case.

Just in case one of you has the cash laying around, here's the auction for it.

Send me an I.M. and I'll get you a shipping address for me.

My first problem would be coming up the $80,000 dollars to get it.

I'll have to stick to my current collection.

Carol said she sent it but I think it must have gotten lost in the mail.

I've got an old Gibson L50 acoustic (vintage late 1950's) that I've had for 40+ years.  Still in the original case.  Just did a search on them and danged if it ain't worth around $1500.  Think I'll take to playing it agin.

I've got a really old National Trivoli guitar.  Solid metal body - plays like a dobro!  You could hear this for a country mile without an amp!  Has a beautiful tone to it.  One of the very nice folks on this board said if I sent them a photo, they'd try to help me get more info on it.  'Course, I'm an idiot and forgot who said that!  Any help out there?

I know that it's  over 60 years old but I don't know more than that.

Bob

Hang on to that L50. I'm still kicking myself over half of the guitars I've gotten rid of. The late 50s Gibson ES 335 and the 58 Les Paul Junior are the causes of most of my self inflicted kicks.

The 78 Les Paul Custom is right up there too.

Grandma_Sweet_Boy

It was me you asked about the Dobro. Send me some pictures and let me know of any writing you see on it. I'll see if I can get some information on it for you.

I did find their web site here. http://www.nationalguitars.com/index_ie.html but it don't look like they have much info on older models. I didn't see any reference to 'Trivoli' but I'll keep looking.

Are you sure that the word is not 'Triolian' ??? They do have a model by that name.

Thanks for your help.

If it IS a triolian, You may be surprised at what it is worth.

So far all of the 1930s National Triolians I have found for sale on the internet have been going for $2000 + !!!

These are in Very Good + condition though. I don't know what kind of shape yours is in or if it is even a Triolian.

Look for any words or numbers that are stamped on this guitar and let me know what you find. Make sure and look in wierd places like the top of the head stock, Inside the body (look through the holes that are shaped like an 'F'), by the strap pins, On the back of the head stock, on the fret board.

I also need any writing that is on any sticker or metal plate that is on it.

I really hope that you have a treasure on your hands.

Pat

This one is not bad shape considering its age and the fact that I once threw it down a flight of stairs at my sister's head!  Damn, I missed her too.  Got my a$$ tanned for that one, let me tell ya!

I've sent you other info in a PM - can not find the photos but will take more.

Thanks again.
Carol
