No, I wanted it to be guest, but the MB wouldn't accept that, so I had to put an extra letter in.

Does this mean that Redd715 has an IQ of 715? I always thought she seemed kind of intelligent but I had no idea.

Sissyphus...

Sorry to bring this thread back, but this name was bugging me.  I remember now reading this:
"The Myth of Sisyphus" by Camus, (very, very old stuff).
Camus found profound hope in the ability of Sisyphus to exert free will.  He relenquished everything beyond immediate experience and by ceasing to search for deeper understanding or meaning, he triumphs.  Camus argues that with his task of rolling a rock uphill, Sisyphus found hope where many would find despair.  Pushing a rock up a mountain we undertake the most notable of tasks: to unveil the place where we call home, to revel in the wonders we discover, and to hand off our knowledge to those who have fallen.

Being the name is very old, the attributes currently associated with the spelling of it seem to lend a different impression from the appropriateness of its similarities with the CH afflicted.

Sissyphus was my spelling error. He spells it right.
But, kev... what do you mean? Is the neurontin making me stupid...or What? I think I'm having an off day.  :-/

Not at all nani.   :)   I was perplexed by the name too.  Who would have guessed the implications the name had.  It was a name that had signficance that would have been not understandable to me either.  It just dawned on me now from when I came across it months ago reading about the origins of English.  It's like 14th century stuff or something.
I thought it was a weird name too when you brought it up.  I just thought there had to be some reason for it, it is hard to find.  Thanks for noting your curiousity toward it.

I know that you believe what you think you said, but I'm not sure that you realize what I heard is not what you meant.

Do you have a 25 words or less model, with no allegories?

I guess the story is allegorical, so I can't get away from that, but...

Would you name your kid Sisyphus?

However,

The literary significance of the name is very similar to:

Quote:
Sisyphus found hope where many would find despair

and to:

Quote:
hand off our knowledge to those who have fallen.

as it applies to CH, hand off our knowledge to those who are, well instead of fallen, in our case suffering from rolling their rock up the hill.

Like I know what I'm saying.  ::)  ;;D   .

My best guess, I guess.  I'm 0 for 8 on Jonny's "WTF is it" threads.

So much for 25 words or less,

My bad.

Camus is a French novelist,  I mixed him up with Chaucer.  It's probably from the 20th century.  It was an allegory from a physics book, not a literary one.  I read the two back to back and it got fuzzy.

I'd do best to just ask him.  :-[

The Myth of Sisyphus

The story of Sisyphus was originally a Greek myth. He was the king of Corinth. Albert Camus wrote an essay on the myth sometime in the early 1950s.

  All the best Filbert.

Actually it took me six months to work out what 49erfan stood for. I thought it was a lucky number ::)
