Other areas do not turn red, just painful Areas of Pain (range from slight ache to can’t walk): Note: Painful areas also swell. These can be both joints and muscle Right arm ache starting in the thoracic spine down Left thumb red and swollen Left and right ring fingers starting at the second joint down with swelling Left are right palms with painful red blotchy areas Right Calf Back and below belt hive looking welts that last about 2-3 days Left arm inside from elbow to wrist Top of left and right arms from elbow to wrist. Rectal area Throat was swollen for one day Tongue painful several different days. Right 4th toe. General body weakens malaise feel flu-ish Light fevers 1-2 degree for a couple of hours at a time Went to ER on Thursday... said this is not an emergency - here is an antibiotic go home. Went to ER again on Sat and they said, "This is very Strange" They had 3 different docs look at the red patches, and finally called it Erythema Multiforme. Labs were fine... one enzyme was slightly off, not enough to be an issue I think that he was guessing because blood test came back normal I am concerned that it might be Rhabdomyolysis, but not sure. |

Title: Re: Need some help identifing a health prob Post by floridian on Dec 21st, 2004, 12:23pm Erythema Multiforme is like hives or a reaction to a drug or infection. It usually is a rather mild condition, rarely it becomes serious, turning into EM-major or Stevens-Johnson disease. About 1% of people who visit dermatologists do so because of the mild form of EM - only about 1 or 2 people per million get EM Major. http://www.emedicine.com/EMERG/topic173.htm Verapamil can sometimes cause a rash-like problem called lymphomatoid papulosis - which is more like huge pimples. http://www.emedicine.com/derm/topic254.htm Quote:

Title: Re: Need some help identifing a health prob Post by Mr. Happy on Dec 21st, 2004, 9:42pm Lyme's is a good thought, but it's more of an east coast kind of thing. I get to deal with it a couple times/year. Filthy deer ticks love my pagen white meat. A form of POX hits closer to home, but who know's what kind of pox. Quote:
Thanks for narrowing it down. Sheesh. Lawyers....(and their future Ex spouses.) Quote:
When in doubt, treat it with $20 of anitbiotics for 2-3 weeks. Beats the shit out of the alternative. No idea what the hell you have, Ken.........but knowing you, it'll be something worth noting. It's always something, RJ |
