Title: Please pray for my sanity... Post by nani on Dec 17th, 2004, 11:32pm mooshie (my 9 year old girl) and I were going through the pics on Bob P's page, deciding who is cute. We do that with magazines all the time. We get to the J's and she says, "nani, click on that one!". It was Jonny. She looked at the enlarged picture and said "Ooohh - he looks good!" God help me.... |

I know how it is nani. The doctor's exam, lens, frames, high insurance deductables. I had to start wearing glasses in third grade too. Don't go with the horn-rims, the social pressure is going to be too much for her. Can't wait to hear about her first boyfriend now nani. Kevin M |

Title: Re: Please pray for my sanity... Post by nani on Dec 18th, 2004, 12:52am Sadly Mike- she's already doing that. I spent the first 6 years of her life trying to get her to wear pants. She was a total girly girl. She is now firmly in what I call her lesbian biker phase. She put those tattoos on her neck! :-/ *note to bikers and lesbians: not that there's anything wrong with that. ;;D |

Title: Re: Please pray for my sanity... Post by Bill-G on Dec 18th, 2004, 1:53am Hmm, almost ready for the teen years. That should be fun :P I guess we all go throught it. The teen knows all...or most of the answeres and adults don't uderstand anything. I remember my mother telling me in my mid teens not to worry about it. She claimed that as I grew older she would 'get smarter'. :P Durned if she wasn't right Have fun Bill |

Title: Re: Please pray for my sanity... Post by nani on Dec 18th, 2004, 6:17pm I'm sure she could do worse than our brother Jonny. We all know what a great guy (and softie) he is. I would like her first few boyfriends at least, to be nerdy, nice boys. Ultimately I want her with a man who values and respects her, no matter what he looks like. But she does scare me sometimes! Having raised a set of teens already, I know what I'm in for... :-/ |

Title: Re: Please pray for my sanity... Post by nani on Dec 18th, 2004, 6:27pm I think I've mentioned that here before. There is a charter high school that I want my kids to go to. Most of the kids are scary looking Goth kids. When I talk to them, they are intelligent, mature young adults who strive to do well in school and really take an interest in the world around them. It's too bad most adults wouldn't look past the image to find the true personality. Kids need to establish themselves as different from the generation before them. Every generation does something. If dressing weird is the worst thing they do- we should get down on our knees and say a prayer of thanks! |

Title: Re: Please pray for my sanity... Post by kimh on Dec 18th, 2004, 6:40pm Nani, i hear ya. Although i do poke fun at the caricature of my own family and the issues we face, i am in truth very proud mama of one of those "goth"-like youngins. She IS intelligent and responsible owner of her own generation and i couldn't be more proud of her. Chelsea is master and commander of her own ship - that is what is most important and will carry her through. Being that i have two teenagers, i get to see head on what transpires in their fledgling development and i have to say it is the kids who don't know their own worth or were never taught to begin with who we should worry about and most times they are the kids who BLEND RITE IN - we don't notice them until it's too late*** |

Title: Re: Please pray for my sanity... Post by Carl_D on Dec 20th, 2004, 4:57pm LOL, Prayin' for ya Nan! My niece went from being totally in love with Elijah Wood because of the Lord of the Rings, and would not allow me to get a tattoo. A year later she is in love with the punk band, Good Charlotte, and is madly in love with the guitarist Billy Martin. She is 13 and wearing black eyeliner and nail polish, and wants a lip ring. Yup. She's alot like me. And that scares me in so many ways, LMAO! Peace, Carl D |
