Title: Sad, Sad day in the Metal World
Post by Tom K on Dec 9th, 2004, 8:46am
Dimebag Darryl of Damageplan and Pantera was shot last night.  One of the metal worlds best guitar players has been lost.  If anything can be said that is positive, it's that he died doing what he loved.

God's speed.

That completely sucks!!!

My worst fear is to have some nut case do something like that during a performance.

People are strange.

BTW: Wasn't yesterday the anniversary of John Lennon's murder? :(

The Dallas Stars anthem will always have a special place in my heart now!

Shot 5-6 times?  WHY?

Candlelight vigil 11 pm CST in Dallas.

Darrell Abbott...RIP!

Grant,
Pantera are big Stars fans and they recorded a Dallas Stars anthem/fight song.

Now that he's dead we'll probably never know the motive.

R.I.P. Darryl

Pantera
Cemetery Gates

The reverend he turned to me
Without a tear in his eyes
It's nothing new for him to see
I didn't ask him why
I will remember
The love our souls had
Sworn to make
Now I watch the falling rain
All my mind can see
Now is your (face)

Well I guess
You took my youth
I gave it all away
Like the birth of a
New-found joy
This love would end in rage
And when she died
I couldn't cry
The pride within my soul
You left me incomplete
Memories now unfold.

Believe the word
I will unlock my door
And pass the
Cemetery gates

Sometimes when I'm alone

I wonder aloud
If you're watching over me
Some place far abound
I must reverse my life
I can't live in the past
Then set my soul free

Belong to me at last
Through all those
Complex years
I thought I was alone

I didn't care to look around
And make this world my own
And when she died
I should've cried and spared myself some pain...
Left me incomplete
All alone as the memories still remain

The way we were
The chance to save my soul
And my concern is now in vain
Believe the word
I will unlock my door
And pass the cemetery gates
:'(

Yes, Lennon's murder and the same day Vince Neal killed Razzle in the car wreck.

Some people are saying that this may be because of the Pantera break up and people from Anselmo's camp trying to get back at Dime.

Yes, he was a big time Dallas Stars fan, often came to the games and recorded THE Dallas Stars anthem that is played after each goal.

What an excellent guitar player.

He will be missed.

A sad day for metal.
