Title: whining
Post by john_d on Dec 7th, 2004, 8:00pm
:Begin Rant

Remember that car I was gonna get, I don't have it yet. You know why, I am working all the time.
I used to care about my yard, I am not sure what color it is outside the black of night right now. You know why, I am working all the time.
My dryer is broken, I wash my clothes and hang them to dry in the laundry room at night.  You know why it's not fixed, I am working all the time.
My so-so girlfriend is so-so distant.  You know why, I am working all the time.
My pool is as green as the grinch who stole Christmas.  You know why, I am working all the time.
I am online all the time.  You know why, I am working all the time.

This time of year (Nov&Dec) is always like this for us, but damn am I ever sick of working all the time and the rest of my life needs attention too.  You know what I mean?  And now I am getting hit, I can't relax at all.  Uggg.

:End Rant

*rolling my eyes at your dogginess*

You have got to take some time to yourself, john. No one on their deathbed ever said "Gee- I wish I'd spent more time at work." Screw the yardwork and the pool (for now anyway) and get the rest you need and the time to repair any relationships that are worth repairing. And for God's sake, fix the dryer. Isn't it funny that we think doing something like that will take up too much time - but the time we have to spend working around it seems necessary.  [smiley=huh.gif]

I deserved a good eye-rolling for that, lol

Well the problem with getting the dryer fixed is I have to be home to do it.  It is a real pain being a bachelor sometimes.   Do you know that like over 50% of people in my field wish they could be school teachers?   I think it may just be a case of 'the grass is greener' but I often think about living a much simpler life.  I wish I could dump all this BS material life and live like a monk or something.   Ah well.  Thanks.

Some people have done this and become extremely fulfilled and happy. It's about looking inside and seeing what is really important to you. The problem is that if you're always at work, you don't have the kind of quiet time you need to think about it. You meditate during a hit, you can meditate just to give your mind a break. Surely you have some kind of flexibility for time off. Take a long weekend. Only plan 3 things for it. 1.fix, or get somebody to fix, the dryer. 2. Spend some quality time with your lady. 3. Spend a few hours doing nothing and just let your mind ponder the meaning of your life. Just my 2 cents. (can you tell I'm a really pushy Mom- never miss an opportunity to put my 2 cents in. lol)

See what hard work can do to you?

The simple answer is crime and or duct tape. Crime, though, when well done, has so many positives. Money, excitement, even being a member of an interesting minority. The worst that can happen, other than getting blow away, is three squares a day, lots of orange jumpsuits and of course you mite meet some interesting others who want you to be their bitsch. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/flowers.gif

Hope you find some way to ckeck in though.

Charlie

Fix your own dryer.   It has one moving part, a heating element, a belt, and a sensor or two.

http://www.applianceaid.com/

I love that site.  Buy some tools and a test set.  I have learned it is more of a pain in the ass to sit around and be raped by an appliance repairman than to just figure out how to fix the shit myself.

hmmmmm, much thanks Wrock, I'll look at it  :)  I actually do have an appliance guy I can trust.  My list of trustworthy service people is getting better and better over time.  ;)

Q - My electric dryer runs but will not heat, what could stop my dryer from heating?

A - Things that could stop a electric dryer from heating:

- house fuse or breaker ( needs two of them ), heating element, burnt wire, thermostat(s), thermal fuse ( not all models ), motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, burnt power cord/plug.

A ohm meter test for these parts is here.

well that really narrows it down  ;;D

lol, just kidding, I am actually great at fixing things.  Problem is the same as always- time.   Thanks for the tip.
