Title: Good Morning America, today?
Post by Renee on Dec 2nd, 2004, 9:11am

** TEXAS HEALTH NEWS FLASH – Dec. 1, 2004 **

************************************

We anticipate seeing Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas featured on Good Morning America tomorrow – between 7 and 8 a.m.
The segment features neurosurgeon Dr. Richard L. Weiner and two of his patients who were chronic headache pain sufferers.  Dr. Weiner pioneered an off-label use of an existing device ten years ago that appears to provide relief for many patients. The stimulation device, much like a pacemaker, is implanted just underneath the skin and the stimulation basically blocks pain signals from the nerves that are creating the headaches. The device manufacturers, MedTronic, have received FDA approval for a nationwide study to test the efficacy of this new use for an existing technology.

We also anticipate seeing a story on CBS-11 (KTVT) on tomorrow’s 5 p.m. news, featuring cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. William Ryan and his use of the minimally invasive technology known as Heart Port – to repair a mitral valve. Dr. Ryan is one of only two physicians in the DFW Metroplex who perform this surgery using the minimally invasive approach. One of Dr. Ryan’s patients was also interviewed for the story.

************************************

All coverage is subject to change due to late-breaking news events.

All times are CST.

hmmmmmmmm..........I received this notification at 0810 a.m. today, the day of the broadcast!

Did anyone see it?

I went back on TIVO to 0730 and can't find anything so I will get with Presbyterian today and see if they know when.

I think women's viagra beat out the headaches today!  ;;D

I heard about that women's Viagra invention.  Great Stuff!!!  Every woman should buy PLENTY!

Screw Christmas, Christmas gifts (unless they happen to be year-long supplies of double-dose woman's Viagra), expensive dates to fancy restaurants...  EVERYTHING!!!

Why, you ask?  Simple - Because all men want is a good screw and not to have to jump through flaming hoops onto red hot coals to get it done.  No promises of future favors that we can't deliver on either.

So yes, Women's Viagra is a better invention than the light bulb.  Step aside Mr. Edison.

For you perhaps.  And what if that tidy little formula only works 20% of the time?  That leaves you with an 80% FAILURE RATE!!!!  If women's viagra is only 50% effective think of all that useless jewelery you won't have to buy!  THINK MAN,  THINK FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!!

OK, and I've got the exact same arrangement. And you know, the "A man who actually listens and takes time to be patient, kind, considerate, and affectionate" stuff is great! I didn't say abandon this approach altogether.  \

I'm just saying progress is a good thing.  Technology MAN!!!  Get it?  Look at it like an insurance policy where a slip-up evey now and then doesn't instantly put you on the defensive for weeks trying to make up lost ground in the sexual pleasures department that somehow seems to get misplaced and mixed up with the every day stuff.  Decouple this shit!!!!  If women's Viagra can accomplish this monumental task MEN WILL FINALLY BE HAPPY!!!!!

OK, you're crazy.

Look, women and men are not only plumbed differently, they're wired differently too (EXCEPTION: Look at Ann Coulter.  I think she's a transvestite.  I never get to see her stand up so I can see if she's got a bulge).  So I find a lot of things women do crazy and women probably find a lot of things that men do crazy - because we aren't wired the same.  And that usually works out perfectly - helps balance things out.

But there's a wiring difference responsible for sexual desires lining up.  Women seem to need a lot more impossible-to-predict combinations of subconscious shit to trigger a response (candles, jewelery, a properly placed sensitive compliment, a fire in the fireplace...) and that eventually leads to men simply giving up.  Believe me.

My advice to men (from a not so impossible to predict woman)... try asking her what she needs. A novel approach that doesn't come naturally to most men.

Believe me, I've tried EVERYTHING IMAGINABLE.  That's why I'm so excited about this women's Viagra.  $100/mo, $1000/mo WHO CARES what it costs??  If it works it's PRICELESS!!!!  Can be marketed to men as a stress reducer, anxiety reducer and a happiness pill.

Oh and by the way... How often I "get it" rarely depends on me.  That's the entire point of this discussion.

A novel approach, indeed. Communication is key to any relationship. After that is established, everything else is like a butterfly scooting across a field on a summer day.  :)

marlin, i didn't see the article, but from what I understand about viagra (for men) is: it won't make you want to , it just makes it so you can.  Desire is not an issue that can be addressed w/ meds... that's not a physical issue for women so much as an emotional one.

I'm sure almost every woman in a reasonably good marriage would say exactly the same thing.  And I'm equally certain that their husbands would say their marriage is OK but they don't get enough SEX.

;;DMarlin,

Don't get your hopes too high.  The "Viagra for Women" is a patch to be worn that contains....TESTOSTERONE!

Ya might get it more often but she'll need to shave (her beard) first!  ;;D  ;;D

Actually, doesn't look like the FDA is going to approve until better results are available plus the risk of blood clots increases when using the patch.

As for the GMA feature story......my buddy is still at work (end of month in accounting) so I'll talk to him later tonight.

Well, the advisory panel made a huge mistake.

I would assume this panel is made up almost entirely of women.  Of course they don't see the value in this monumental invention - A LIFE AND MARRIAGE SAVING MIRACLE DRUG.  Shit, all those women probably share your opinion that their sex lives are plenty active already.  They should try consulting sexual activity level experts -- MEN!!!

I did read in the paper though that the study only showed on average an increase of 1 "encounter" / mo in the trials.  What they didn't say was whether it turned any of these subjects into RAVING SEX MANIACS.  But it did say that those that participated did show increased levels of arousal and more orgasms. Good news if you ask me.  So then ladies, is that enough to sign up???

Just found this article!!!!

http://www.cnn.com/2004/HEALTH/10/19/femaleviagra.ap/

Looks like USA Today artice I read yesterday got the trail results all wrong.  Figures, written by one Rita Rubin - This important news item should obviously have been assigned to a MAN to write. And this was a front pager!

WTF is the FDA thinking this over for.  It's a slam dunk!!!!  No need for a long drawn out discussion about the merits of this WONDER DRUG!  All you need to see is 4X MORE SEX.  That's a no-brainer!!!

If the FDA shot this one down it's going to be recorded in history as one of the darkest days EVER for mankind.

Worth noting...

<<Meanwhile, a survey of 2,000 American women sponsored by Procter & Gamble and done by the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey found that one in three naturally menopausal women reported lackluster sex lives, but only one in 10 said it upset them.>>

So ladies, what I was saying is TRUE.  According to the women in this study, having a lackluster sex life is just fine - not a problem.  Why bother asking them if their sex life is something that's even important - IT ISN'T.  THAT'S MY POINT.  LEAVE THIS DECISION UP TO THOSE THAT CARE!!!!!!

Title: Re: Good Morning America, today?
Post by nani on Dec 3rd, 2004, 11:30am
FOR GOD'S SAKE...let it go....!
BTW: is 3-5 times a week lackluster? You implied that I was satisfied with the "norm" for menopausal women...and that my husband would disagree. I am not one to share intimate details with the world... but ... 17 years 3-5 times a week...my hubby (and I ) are quite satisfied.

nan, would that someone be moi?

If so I would like to qualify that by saying it's not that I "can't" score - IT'S THAT I DON'T "SCORE" AS OFTEN AS I WOULD LIKE!  And it might be my adolescent mind at work, but I would hardly call having sex after being married 20 years scoring.  Scoring is something that happens on a first date, or possibly it's some lame way to refer to sex in Cosmopolitan Magazine - THE NEMESIS OF THE MARRIED MAN. Those magazines are chock full of ways to flat-out destroy everything men hold dear.

Well as long as we are talking about 'sex', I will go into the details so I don't come across as a lamo.  I am  not married, but I have had girlfriends of course, many girlfriends actually but only because I am now 35.  I have never been a ladies man, I am not pretty enough.  I am seeing someone but it is not serious.  I do listen but I have always been a good listener, I enjoy her company as a matter of course.  *I hear good things*.  It sounds lame but I have been reading books about it for years and I learned alot from those, and I mean alot.  If you are a meditator or are even slightly into meditation, I advise tantric, an amazing experience.

Enough about that.   I enjoy reading you ladies of this board for other reasons, you really are a pleasure to listen to.

john, I've got a little advice for you.  Have as much sex as you possibly can before you ever decide to get married. My experience and that of the 1000 or so guys I know suggests strongly that the amount and quality of sex you can expect will diminishes greatly after you get married.

Q: What's the best birth control device known to man?

A: A marriage certificate. (or wedding cake or...)

lol marlin, you're digging fast and furious eh?

I am kinda relationship-shy so I don't know when I would get married, but we will see.   I am actually glad to hear others don't have the problem you describe, I would rather not think of marriage as that  bleak.  ;)  If you are having trouble with sex in you marriage see a marriage counselor, I think they actually help.   Gotta split for the evening.  Good night.

ahhh red,  I get it!  You mean like pretty boys you post daily pictures of?  Are you saying guys like those do a lot of mind seducing?  My experience tells me the hard-body eye-candy types normally come packaged without.  So you must not be getting a whole lot either then.  Oh well, misery loves company.

I'm not sure how I missed this before. I can only think of one thing that all men hold dear. Perhaps if you held it "dearly" more often, you wouldn't feel so frustrated. ;;D

good one.  I don't know but self service for me has always stopped at the gas station.  Just plagued by my adolescent mind. My imagination just never fully developed with the rest of me.

Alright ladies, I call a truce.  It's clear that you girls don't have a sexuality or desire problem.  O conceded that point a while ago.  I don't have one either.

I think the real problem why I don't get enough sex is because it hurts my partner(s) too much -- TOO MUCH MAN FOR THEM!!!!!!

Hey, as good of an explanation as any LMFAO!

If you don't know how to use what you got TOO much of a man is still no man at all.

Sounds like you got some good advice here, marlin. I don't think you can get any deeper without burying youself, hole's getting too deep to throw the dirt out anymore.

It's obvious you like your problem. Too bad it's only you that you think about.

Redd, I'm with you dear. It's all in the mind...

Well, that was intended as a concessionary JOKE to end the trhead!!!!  I have no illusion that I could give up my day job and do porn flicks full time.  Don't have that type of equipment.  Fully functional and respectable - yes.

Sensitive maneaters once your panties get all bunched up???????

Yes, Marlin he does all that and holds my hand and holds me too ............ as  I rock back and forth......when my head hurts.

I know you're only joking and I was too, but seriously I appreciate every little thing he does for me and I ask him what he needs because he asks me what I need.

Oh, and I apologize for not replying to this earlier.  Sounds like you met the perfect match.  Consider yourself fortunate.

This is just a snippet of an article on the Intrinsa patch written DIEDTRA HENDERSON, AP Science Writer cardiologist,  on the yahoo news page                                                                                                                                                                   Panel member Dr. Steven Nissen, a Cleveland Clinic Foundation  said he worried about exposing millions of American women to heart attack and stroke risks to gain a marginal increase in sexual satisfaction.

Clinical trials showed that women who applied the patch to their abdomen twice weekly had one more "satisfying sexual event" per four weeks than did women given a placebo, according to the data presented to the advisory panel.

Nissen said Procter & Gamble needs to study at least 5,000 women for several years to see if the testosterone patch unacceptably raises cardiovascular risk. Heart disease is already the No. 1 killer of American women
--------------------------------------------------------------------

my only thoughts on the subject ...if you care enough about the woman to want a satisfying sex life then you need to worry about her health.NO ONE should be taking medicine that has a high chance of ending there lives pre-maturely.If theres no high risk fine but putting your life on the line risking a stroke or heart attack IMHO is not worth it.just my opinion.

Minnie honey, no one is forcing you to apply the patch.  Relax.  I agree that testing is the appropriate thing to do. Just curious... Do you walk to work taking special care not to go anywhere near busy roads in fear of getting run over?

Look, if it's safe and there's a demand for this MODERN DAY MIRACLE, I SAY ANYONE THAT WANTS IT SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET IT - PERIOD.

I know if I could better enjoy sex with a simple and safe patch  I would crawl over broken shards of glass on my hands and knees to get it. 8)

Which brain? The right side or the left side?  Oh, and thanks for watching out for my brain(s).  It's very sensitive and I wouldn't want it to be endangered in any way.  Far too precious of an item.  Don't know what I'd do without it.  Phew!  I feel better now that I know my brain's safe and you're watching out for it..
