Do any of you that use find it hard to get the saftey cap off or am I an idiot?

I ripped the thing in half .....is there a trick I dont know?

I never had a problem with that. Try grabbing the plunger with the thumb and forefinger of one hand and the narrow sides, instead of the broad sides, with the thumb and forefinger of the other.
