Title: anyone got some extra cash?
Post by cschick on Nov 30th, 2004, 9:10pm
I got 3, yes 3, bounced check notices in the mail today!  There is NO WAY!  The only thing we can come up with is that they didn't post my last deposit.  It was cash and of course I can't find the receipt showing where I deposited it.  I am freaking out!  Chris is going in the morning to try to find out what the hell is going on.  I have NEVER bounced a check in my life let alone 3.  grrrrrrrrrr............

BTDT...

It must be my attitude about the whole checking account thing....

I can't be out of money, I still have checks  :-/

Funny - that's exactly what I think too.  If there are two of us that believe, then it must be so!

Man ain't that a BAD feeling ? And it snowballs once it starts cuz they add a service charge of quite a bit (sumthin like $ 20.00 or more isn't it ??) which may cut you shorter on the balance for the next check written to clear and then the next.......and next thing ya know you owe them after it is all said and done. You owe more then what the checks added up too I mean with all them added charges. I have done that before......I'd get groceries same day or day before Brad deposited money and sometimes he'd forget to tell me he didn't put the usual amount in....and I mailed out bills to make it worse. So.............shit would hit the fan the next week. Some stores now debit checks out of your account rite away after you write them so it is a direct action outa yer account. Others take a day or so........I know Walmart transactions go thru that day. But.....funny isn't it how you deposite money on Friday and it doesn't register till sometime Monday prolly after noon ! All is fair in credit and debit Pam

Maybe yer last deposite wasn't recorded yet and stuff went thru first ? Hope ya get it straighten'd out EASILY......

me too.  I know there is nothing I can do about it tonight but I know I am not going to be able to sleep.  It sucks in such a major way and could there be a worse time?  Colin's birthday is Thursday and then Christmas presents haven't been bought....God, this sucks so badly.  I don't know what to do.  I want to cry.  I gave away my incentive check to the lady at work and that would have helped tremendously right now.  I don't regret giving her the money because I KNOW she needed it but I really need it right now too!   ::)

How about this... My bank once charged me a $25 overdraft charge for a 35 cent overdraft.  My direct deposit UC check posted approximately 5 minutes after they cleared a $5 debit to my account from that morning.  Took me about 15 minutes in the bank manager's office to get the $25 back.  Then there was the time that I deposited a check, and noticed on my way out that the clerk entered the deposit 20 bucks short, so I had to wait 'til the check cleared for them to correct the error... 5 days later.  Gotta love banks.

PFDAN................................... Drk^Angel

I once had the repo man come out and try to take my car. I told him he couldn't take it 'cause then I wouldn't have a way to work. He said unless I came up with the $800 and some odd dollars that I owed he'd have to take it. I said who has $800 cash laying around anyway? He asked, "Well, you gotta check?" To which I replied, "A check! Why didn't I think of that? Hell, let me pay the whole damn thing off!"

Mel this is a credit union.  They paid the checks but charged $15 for each one.  So now they are saying that we are $320 in the hole.  CAN NOT FIGURE THIS OUT!  We are not foot loose and fancy free with our money.  We paid our bills and bought some groceries.  I am lost here.  I can not for the life of me figure out what is going on.  I went over and over the checkbook last night.  I just plain don't get it.  Chris is going in as soon as they open this morning to find out what is going on.

Sounds like a crappy deal Karen.  Sorry this has happened and I hope that Chris can get things straightened out for you guys.  We always have money in my savings,  due to automatic withdrawl for our house payment, so in case a check bounces, we have money to cover it.  Although we still have to put that money back!  It can be a bitch, I know... :-/

ALL FIXED!!! phew!  they posted the deposit to the someone else's account, BUT then they told Chris it wasn't their fault this happened and we were going to have to pay the $15 fee for each check.  Chris said uh no we aren't because YOUR employee posted it to the wrong account.  Took about 20 minutes but they took all the fees off!  THANK GOD!

This will be the first time I have ever used the words 'extra' and 'cash' in the same sentence.

Glad it's remedied.

I wonder if this is an example of the new electronic, almost instant check posting. You nearly have to stand at the desk to avoid this. I have it set up so any overdraft is automatically paid with my savings. It saves a lot of fees. I'm using my credit cards less too. The grace periods have been shortened so it's damn near impossible to cover them. For this you can thank our wonderful government for nearly ending regulation. Nothing is worse than the credit card meatheads.  http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/furious.gif

The bank has been pleading with me for years to "take advantage" of paperless checking receipts. No way. I want the checks. If you need a copy they charge about $20 or so.

Screw em'    http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/red mad.gif
