Title: Sods Law Post by Sisyphus on Nov 25th, 2004, 12:12pm There is a saying in England, "it's sods law" which means whatever can go wrong will go wrong! Jeepgun's story of the officer and the deep rut reminded me of something. I don't know about you guys but do you find that CH has a rather nasty habbit of getting you at the worst possible moment. For example, my last bout before the current one started at 7pm on Christmas Eve, just one hour after I had stocked the house with enough Christmas spirit to floor an elephant. Well I thought about this and wondered what your worst moment of bad timing has ever been. I tend to look back and laugh at them because there's bugger else you can do. My worst one (and here's the jeepgun reference) was on returning from a tank driving course I got absolutely slammed by CH. The problem was that I was being driven 140 miles in a clapped out old banger of a motor, all motorway so it was rattling as though to come apart. There was an absolute torrent of rain playing a timpani on the roof. And to cap it all the driver was an 8 year service man from the Marine Commandos who only ever spoke with the volume needed to be heard on the other side of the Atlantic. This and the fact that as a Commando he held the belief that "real men don't feel pain" so he tried to shout me out of it with what he thought was encouragement. I literally crawled out of that car on my hands and knees. Is CH a stalking predator waiting for your moment of most vulnerabiliy? |

Title: Re: Sods Law Post by Redd715 on Nov 25th, 2004, 12:28pm Recent story here... The tensions were about as high as they can get in the office, the numbers were low..very low and everyone was on pins and needles. There is a usual air of jovialness between co-workers, and on this particular day I had cracked a joke to one co-worker who had been really pimping me for a couple weeks prior to this. Well he took it the worng way and started emailing another coworker via inner office, and accidently sent it to me instead. Well it wasn't a very nice email and hinted to suggest that he might have enough "pull" to get me fired if he just gave the word. So I printed off a copy of this for my own records and then brought it to our manager's attention. She then called a meeting between the three of us, and right then the beast also decided to come for a nice visit. So I'm bouncing in my chair in the conference room, trying to keep my cool as best I can, and the tears are running because the anxiety is ramping up about as fast as the HA. After 5 minutes of this she called and end to the meeting, and I go grab a syring out of my desk and run to the store room. I know they both thought that I was upset over this situation, but the truth was that the beast was hitting me fierce and here I am locked in a meeting. |

You bet! The devil knows when it's the worst possible time to strike and it will... Having said that, the worst time CH has bugged me was this spring when I was working on my dissertation. It made the process living hell I can tell you! sandie99 |

Title: Redd Post by Testy1 on Nov 26th, 2004, 4:36am I hear ya on the meetings. I tend to get whacked as soon as I am in a small, closed room with someone important. I've gotten to the point where I just gobble some kind of abortant as before I even go in the room. Regards Jack |

Title: Re: Sods Law Post by IHateSequelsNotH on Nov 26th, 2004, 8:16am Thats interesting. Yea I find that true and it doesn't have to be anything exteranl either. A large boost of creative energy for example seems to always be when they come. Or if life is feeling too light, too good and you are just feeling good about everyting. Well they are the strangest creatures that for sure. peace love Andrew |

Title: Re: Sods Law Post by Mr. Happy on Nov 27th, 2004, 2:21am Sod and Murphy were optimists. If a thing can go wrong, it will, but ONLY AT THE WORST POSSIBLE TIME. Fact. Quote:
