Title: CH effectiveness with meds Post by john_d on Nov 23rd, 2004, 10:13pm I have been out of cycle for a while now. I get shadows often, it's like those ridiculously painful headaches are stalking me sometimes. But, question.... Do folks who take meds (aborts and/or prevs) still get CH? I have never gotten a clear picture on this. |

Title: Re: CH effectiveness with meds Post by don on Nov 23rd, 2004, 10:21pm Of course. Why would you need an abortive if you didn't? |

Title: Re: CH effectiveness with meds Post by Ruth on Nov 23rd, 2004, 10:23pm I am out of cycle right now and do not suffer from shadows or CH's I am not on any medication prevents or aborts, don't need them if I am not in cycle. Ruth |

Title: Re: CH effectiveness with meds Post by john_d on Nov 23rd, 2004, 10:26pm Yeah Don, of course. I was curious if that stops it and you don't have one after that. What is the state of affairs with having ch and taking meds? Retarded question? I don't care really, don't fucken answer it. But I am telling you, I never even taken meds when I got them a few years back, just suffered through it. My cycles are very sparse, thank God. I sincerely hope I never get them again, but I am not really counting on it. As a matter of fact, I smell it in the wind. Hmmm, maybe that is why I am asking? You think. |

Title: Re: CH effectiveness with meds Post by Ruth on Nov 23rd, 2004, 10:29pm To my knowledge there is no cure, pevents and aborts just help you get through the cycle. Been doing this CH thing for 35 years now. |

I hope that is not true, wtf are people taking meds for? excuse the acronymical curses ;). Why take meds with side effects if they don't actual get rid of the headaches. I have a feeling I asked too broad a question, oh well. I am going to pay a miserable visit to the doctor this week, I hate doctors. |

Title: Re: CH effectiveness with meds Post by john_d on Nov 24th, 2004, 8:37am hmmm, somebody drank a little too many cocktails last night and was not thinking clearly (me?). Oh well, I don't think I am going to get them again anytime soon (cross fingers). It's only when I drink that even get the shadows. |

Title: Re: CH effectiveness with meds Post by karma on Nov 24th, 2004, 9:09am John I am episodic like you and get hit every couple years for about a month. I found this site and began to read about treatments and meds. This time was the first I took anything at all. Quite honestly the affects of the abortives and prevents were worse than the pain I was used to having. More hits and more severe hits. Never again! I have the fungi readily available and that will be the next treatment for me. I also quit drinking many years ago. It didn't stop the CH but I sure feel better in the mornings. |

Title: Re: CH effectiveness with meds Post by Jeepgun on Nov 24th, 2004, 9:37am When in cycle and taking Verapamil, I get hit three times a day. (versus six or seven times a day, without it!) Imitrex, on the other hand.... The only time I ever experienced shadows was after using Imitrex, and I feel that it not only lengthened my cycle, but caused the hits I had to be far more severe. My next cycle, (due in February, as far as I can tell) I will get the Verapamil, but stay off of the 'trex. My two liras' worth.... -Frank |
