Title: Re: Is the world a better place.............? Post by medic1852 on Nov 23rd, 2004, 6:18pm Ruth, and to all who are wondering who medic is. I am a paramedic with ambulance service. My name is Rodger I have had CH since I was 15. Mine are seasonal, THANK GOD, I dont think I could handle chronic. As far as my kiddos who I dearly love are 12 year old girl who is smart and funny and a 9 year old boy who is a typical boy, both of whom live with my ex wife. I also have a girl who is 6 red-headed and look just like my wife, then there is my little buddy who is 4, he is so silly. I love all my kiddos more than life itself and they would not be here if I had never came along. |

I have a son of 9 too and a little boy of three as well as a daughter of 10, little horrors the lot of them but my magnum opus too! Thanks for telling us more about you, its nice to know and its great to know there is at least one paramedic who we will never have to explain anything to! :) |

Title: Re: Is the world a better place.............? Post by medic1852 on Nov 23rd, 2004, 6:30pm The shame of it is that the only thing we carry on an ambulance is morphine, fersed, valium, and a BIG bottle of O2. I have never picked up any CH. Pleanty of folks complaining of migraines, but none have ever described to me a CH. But if I ever do I am sure with the drugs and O2 that I have on the ambulance, I am sure I could give enough O2 to help and enough of the pain med to sedate you all enough that you would not care. The down side to the ambulance is I cant medicate myself, except for the O2. |

Title: Re: Is the world a better place.............? Post by Redneck on Nov 23rd, 2004, 7:16pm I have been a friend. I will stop on the side of the road and fix your flat. I will bushhog or mow your yard if you can't (only if you are close) I will do a million things for those that need it. I have been in public service 23 years helping those that need it (sometimes even if they didn't want it) That and more is what country boys do! Now I do planning, preparation, reintergating public health into local response efforts. IF YOU SEE ME RUNNING LIKE HELL, TRY TO KEEP UP ;;D |

Title: Re: Is the world a better place.............? Post by john_d on Nov 23rd, 2004, 7:31pm I have tried to help people all my life, but it always turned out they were helping themselves. I give to charity, but my expense to salary ratio is so low I would be a jerk if I did not. I tried volunteering once but there are so many retired people around here that all the volunteer positions have waiting lists. I took my nephew under my wing when he was young, he went from a D student to an A student and an Eagle scout, then he stumbled and flunked out of college soon as he got out on his own. The one time I stopped and helped somebody with there car he turned out to be an insane homosexual who had some horrible things to say, so I never did it again. In the end, I honestly don't think I have successfully helped anybody with anything. I'll keep trying though. ;) |

Title: Re: Is the world a better place.............? Post by cschick on Nov 23rd, 2004, 7:56pm I brought a wonderful, beautiful child into the world who makes me and my family smile every day. He is the best kid in the world. I work as a CSR for a health insurance company and help people understand those horrendous policies and occasionally pay a claim that wouldn't normally be paid with a "flick" of a button. I love my family and friends with a fierceness that most people don't understand (you all are included in that) and for that I am the one who is blessed. Karen |

Title: Re: Is the world a better place.............? Post by nani on Nov 23rd, 2004, 8:00pm I would like to think that each day that I'm alive I have left the world a little bit of a better place. I sincerely try to make everything I do come from love. Odds are even pretty good that if you cut me off on the freeway I will yell "I love you, man!" It's much better than what I want to yell. I will let you get ahead of me in line, I will smile at all kids I see, and I will offer help wherever I can. I think it's our test here on earth. Do we get stuck in human limitations or do we stretch ourselves and let what we really are (divine love) show. |

Title: Re: Is the world a better place.............? Post by Melissa on Nov 23rd, 2004, 11:20pm I don't know if the world is a better place or not because I'm here. :-/ Not sure if this counts, but I sold my Blazer to a lady we know, where she could put a chunk of money down and then pay the rest off to us in payments. It felt real good to see her all happy and smiley when she picked it up. She felt like she had a brand new car, so to see her so happy, well it cemented my decision even further that I made the right choice. That's about all I can think of. |

I will be needing your phone number Redneck I've got a few little jobs for you...! I think the world is a better place with me in it... I was a teen MOM... giving birth to my kids has been my grandest accomplishment and now I have given them to my country. Who knows who they will be someday... They aren't doing such a bad job thus far....... Though I live simply, wear hand me downs and never finished college.........I have never regretted having my son, some people call it a choice. To me the choice was made when he planted himself in my womb. I love deeply. If I love you, you know it. I am forgiving. I don't have any enemies...(that I know of) I'm a teacher and I assist parents that have to work.I have the most important job, that being raising children. I do this safely, lovingly and with a big smile on my face.......... I think they are lucky to have me care for their kids. I truly love and play with them all day. I don't stick them in front of a television. I look at things through their eyes all day. I think like them when they are in my presence. We sing, dance and go on safari's do crafts, listen to music, do fingerplays, have circle time. When I greet my daughters bus. I hear the voices yelling "Ree ree" of kids I watched as toddlers... Im a folk hero to them... forever young. I share and because of this God is good to me and I have never worried that I won't be cared for in this world. I give a good haircut... lol There would be a few people that would miss me if I wasnt on the planet... they would certainly be paying alot more for their haircuts.. Ok I think I have blown my own horn enough. I love my life... and I like me. There are days that I think of what coulda, shoulda, woulda... but then I remember there are no mistakes in life.......... Life is perfect. love ree |

Title: Re: Is the world a better place.............? Post by IHateSequelsNotH on Nov 24th, 2004, 4:46am No, I can see no purpose to it at all no matter what I did. And the whole what is "I" does it exist. Then you spin out for months on the question. I am simply part of the chaos who hurts and harms the lifecycle without much knowledge of it. I just can't say I'm responsible for any cosmic outcome in this life. Perhaps Hitler benifitted mankind more than any other man in history and Ghandi caused some of the greatest suffering. All we can do is look at the immediate consequences of the action right? A crime or a virtue. But taking into account every element of the universe. ya, very cool Q peace Andrew |

Title: Re: Is the world a better place.............? Post by LeLimey on Nov 24th, 2004, 4:57am Okay ass hole, I have now read every one of your posts with growing nausea. What is with the so superior attitude? You are new here, why don't you look at the tone of the board and try and fit in? And if you don't want to then why in hell are you here at all? This place is for sufferers and supporters and you have given us no clues to which you are. Everyone who comes here comes looking for information, support or understanding. We stay because of the superb atmosphere here and the genuine caring family we have become. You have walked in the door and started with the controversy which is fine when you know your audience and they know you BUT YOU DO NOT! Would you walk into a bar and do this? I think not. edited to say ass hole like I wanted in the first place! |

I am saddened that you have nothing positive to post and that you would think that we are just going on about our greatness. It is a thought provoking question, one we should all ask ourselves from time to time, and hopefully through small or large acts impliment in our lives. Ruth |

Title: Re: Is the world a better place.............? Post by IHateSequelsNotH on Nov 24th, 2004, 8:47am I have questioned and to the point I exhausted it years ago. Its just very hard to believe one life makes any difference to the world. I can say good things about myself all I want. I don't have problems with self esteem at all. Its just my "philosophical" view on the nature of it all nothing else. And nothing is more meaningless than philosophy. :) I know always confusing butt take into account I don't understand any of you so it's much harder for me. |

Title: Re: Is the world a better place.............? Post by john_d on Nov 24th, 2004, 8:49am the thing is, we make very little difference in the whole world, we make even less of a difference in the entire universe. But to one or two people we can make a big difference. And you know what? That is all that is important. ExplodingEye gets it. |

Title: Re: Is the world a better place.............? Post by IHateSequelsNotH on Nov 24th, 2004, 8:57am I guess it comes down to perception of the question as I said was very good. Oh I know things I do well. I know I am THAT good of a dad ect. I know how much my kid loves me, my g/f. So yes Im not saying thats nothing but in a certain way it is too. It depends if I'm in a more geeky PKD mood or more realistic I dunno man its a big question that even brings up the whole concept of free will and I don't want to do that again peace love Andrew |

(bad accent i suppose) Philosophy, very nice. The real world is where i live. I will help a child, and I don't give a fuk what he turns into. By showing up here YOU have, maybe by posting something that would make another man think... and maybe by your negativity making someone else that much stronger to stand up against that negativity. so even in all that heavy thought... you have made something positive happen... Not what you tried to accomplish... but the way I see it... To some the glass is half full... to some the glass is half empty... To me the glass is just too big......... I am a realist. Welcome back with your funky new long name that you probably wont remember either......... God bless Ree |

Title: Re: Is the world a better place.............? Post by Jeepgun on Nov 29th, 2004, 1:14pm I like to think that I am tending to the piece of God's garden that I have been given. I am responsible to the people in my life, and do my best to be kind and generous. Whether that will have an effect on the world at large, I don't know, but it makes MY world a good place to be for those I care for and love. If I can be a good, kind, and loving husband, and a firm, wise, and compassionate father, then I have realized my deepest dream and done my best. No regrets. |
