Title: Cluster Newbie!! Excuse Me!!
Post by Spike266 on Nov 18th, 2004, 4:51am
My name is Mike , and I am totally new to the website and to all of your experiences.  After reading some of the messages on the board, I do realize I don't have so bad after all.  It all started with having a series of horrific headaches a few years ago, but they only lasted about a week and I never really did anything about them because I thought at the time they were alergy related (I also have hay fever).  The very same types of headaches came back to me again in the very begining of September.  I went some 4-5 weeks doing nothing more that waiting them out suffering through them and taking massive doses of Excedren, Ibuprofen, or Tylenol.  I finally couldn't take it any longer and made an appointment to see my Doc.  He RXed low dose of Imitrex pills.  About 10 days passes and the frequencie and severity of the headaches was now to a point that I was almost totally incapacitated.  I went back but my regular Doc was not there.  The Doc I saw at the time said she thougtht I may have what was called "Cluster Headaches" and she RXed me a Beta blocker and continued the Imitrex.  A week passed and my wife couldn't stand to see me in this condition any longer so she found you on the NET and called the Doc.  Later that day she came home with Topamax and Imitrex injectors.  Now keep in mind that I have all of the symptoms of having Cluster Headaches, so I don't know if the antiseizure med. (Topamax) was the reason or if I just suddenly went into remission but the headaches stopped within a couple of days.  Never had to inject myself and I never got to try to see if the O2 treatment would have worked.  I guess at this point I just don't know, but I will continue to research the Clusters until I know more about them and I am more prepaired if they ever rear their F___ing heads again.  Until then just sitting on 20 doses of Imitrex injectors.  You all are a great support group for each other and God Bless Every Single One Of You.          THANKS,  MIKE

Welcome to your new home Mike,

Although it's always sad to learn of another sufferer, we're extrememly glad you found us. And PLEASE, tell your wife this is her home too. There is a message board for supporters here as well. There's lots of reading to be had with very useful information.

Sad thing about clusters..........."they'll be back".........hope not any time soon for you!!  But, know that lots of us stick around even when out of our cycle. I'm hoping you do too.   :)

Glad to have you,
EDNA

Welcome Mike and sorry you're here. Di you have a prescription for the trex? If you do it may be wise to have them filled when you can, even if you're not in cycle. Most ins companies limit how many you can get. Many here stockpile so that when the next cycle hits, they have plenty. Good luck to you.
