Title: mad as a fish
Post by Sisyphus on Nov 16th, 2004, 11:44pm
The one thing I have learnt is that I have to laugh at myself and fortunately I get plenty of opportunity. Now, God help me, I am going to give you the opportunity to laugh at me as well. I was given Sumatriptan injections for the first time during my last bout but am an absolute wimp about injections, just can't handle them at all. Oh yes, can roll around on the floor like a fish out of water trying to rip its head off without so much as a murmur, can sit in silence as the red hot poker is stubbed vigourously into my eye, no, have a fortitude for that pain but... there has to be nothing more comical than me sitting at the edge of a seat with my trousers down by my ankles, one hand clutching st the side of my face and my thumb hovering over the injector as the cartridge is pressed to my leg. Can I get that thumb to press the button, can I hell, sometimes it must take ten minutes, and when you know the pain of a cluster it is just totally mad. I laugh, what else can I do? Jack, mad as a fish!

Well I suppose it is a very good thing that you did not aspire to becoming a heroin addict.  You would have been a dismal failure. ;;D

I'm laffing right along at you. Quite a conundrum. There's people here that would walk over their own mother for 1/3 of a shot.

Push the damned button,
RJ

hey, if they want to come around here I'd give them a whole shot if they walked over my mother! We call her the steel butterfly, looks pretty but will chop you up in a second!  :)

Yeah sure whats her addey? I'll do it and break that down into 1/3rds ...

All kidding aside what is the diff between what you take and Imitrex? I have use 2 things.. O2 and Imitrex.

My O2 is in a 5 foot tall welder's bottle made of steel, so luggin that around is a not an option..

Imitrex seems to be more that useless pills, in halers, and finally the pen. But the pen is 6mg's at a wack, and way too much ffor me.. So I tear the things down and have another method, as you may know..

Next bout I might like to look into Sumatriptan injections.  Mac

Mad as a fish?  Maybe if you get the hang of the injector, you will be happy as a clam.

Where do these expressions come from?  How happy is a clam?  How can we even know the mental state of a bivalve? Swim with the sharks and do what needs to be done.

I used to be the same way too, but then after the shots started to work, I wouldn't give those things up for a million dollars.  Those little shots are magic.  You just having to get the courage to push that button.  The pain of that little shot is nothing compared to that of the beast.

if it's any conselation, I'm not a fan of injections myself. Luckily my treatment (knocking wood here) doesn't include any...

My husband gives me the shot. That's how wimpy I am.  In fact, the first time..which was not too long ago...we got onto an arm wrestling match over it. I held his arm so he couldn't give me the shot in my leg. He made me sit on my hands.

yea, I know at some point when I'm home by myself and need the trex I'll do it myself.
