Title: Puter Geeks Help! Post by alleyoop on Nov 15th, 2004, 1:34pm I have my headache diary saved in MS Word Spreadsheet. I tried to email it to a doctor as an attachment. He was unable to open it because all he has on his machine is Excel. I do not have Excel on mine. Is there a way to get this to him- maybe download a trial version of Excel Spreadsheet to my machine and somehow transfer it from MS to Excel? I tried printing it out in hopes of faxing it to him, with no luck. It seems I'm only able to print in sections, which is almost impossible to read or put together. All suggestions welcome! Thanks.... ......................alley [smiley=huh.gif] |

Title: Re: Puter Geeks Help! Post by alleyoop on Nov 15th, 2004, 1:56pm John, Have you used openoffice? I'm lost here. What do I need to download in order to do what I need to do? Do I need to download the entire suite, or can I just download spreadsheet? Once I download what I need, how do I give my document in MSWord a excel extension? |

Title: Re: Puter Geeks Help! Post by Ronny on Nov 15th, 2004, 2:17pm I'd go with Racer, Open your file in MS Word, Click :" Save as" In the "Save as Type" box Change to "Plain text" (*.txt) Ckick OK and mail it. Anyone must be able to read that file. |

You download the whole thing, it reads and saves all MS file formats. But actually the other suggestions on this thread are pretty good. If it is a word document you can save it as text or rich text (RTF) but RTF files are pretty big. |
