Title: Looking for CH article
Post by kellya408 on Nov 5th, 2004, 8:48pm
Hi all.  Its been a while since I've been on - law school and a f/t job have been keeping me quite busy.  I hope everyone is doing well.  I had a couple of questions I was hoping you could help me with.

I was diagnosed with CH a little over a year ago (everyone else said they were migraines or sinus headaches).  I'm in the middle of a cycle now, a few months later than normal.  My doc has put me on prednisone and verapamil to interrupt the cycle (I'm in day 11).  However, my dentist said that verapamil can cause dry mouth which can lead to tooth decay so he prescribed a special flouride toothpaste and said to drink lots of water and suck on sugarless hard candy.  Has anyone else been advised of this?

Secondly, at one time someone had posted a description of a CH to show to friends/family.  I believe it made its way over from a UK site but it was extremely accurate (compared it to being in labor etc).   Does anyone have a link or electronic copy of that?

Thanks and my best to all
Kelly

Very true that saliva breaks down food in your mouth, I'd imagine will little of it, more food would be lingering longer.
A lot of different meds give dry mouth.  Ever wonder why a lot of elderly people keep hard candy dishes around?

LOL - That explains my grandmother's stash of candy all over the house.  Thanks Kevin ;;D

If you brush and floss your teeth before going to sleep and then when you wake up in the morning, floss again, sometimes you'll be surprised at what the saliva has broken down overnight while drooling on your pillow.   :)

This might be the letter you're talking about.
It's by Simon, posted on OuCH UK.

ew and lol.  I've noticed that before -kind of gross.  I get picked on at work for having toothpaste and a toothbrush in my desk drawer at work.

Being a user of the nasal spray imitrex, Dentyne's ICE chewing gum is highly recommended too at work, about three of them.   ;;D
