Title: Taking a break
Post by PittsburghJoe on Nov 3rd, 2004, 1:44pm
Well, folks, I'm weary of arguing my viewpoints here. The people have spoken, and I need to take time to sort out what that means to me and my life. For that reason, I'm taking a sabbatical from this place. I may read, but I'm not gonna post for a while.

Big vibes to all who need them, and I hope you all know this isn't personal about anyone other than myself.

Joe

I am too actually, but I am not sure why.   I get attacked alot and I attack alot of people also, both of these things are exhuasting to me.   And to be honest, I don't really have any face-to-face friends here; but just to know that they get cluster headaches also,  A pain that no one but another person who gets them would understand,  makes me feel like they are comrades.  But that is often mistaken as I have found.  Friendship requires commitment and attention, something almost impossible to pass through an anonymous message board.

And to be real for a sec, I am going to miss you also.   I enjoy your posting very much.

Hey Joe,

I realize there have been some heated debates and some deep personal differences between all of us, but at the end of the day, this is a Cluster Headaches website.  We are here first and foremost to support each other through the dark times and endless pain of this wretched condition we all share.

Take time to reflect, to gather your thoughts and to recharge.  When you are ready or when you need us, we will be here for you.

Peace be with you, my brother.

Mike

I'm sorry you're feeling this way john. It's been an exhausting couple of weeks for many of us. I don't think it's impossible to find friendship on this message board. I haven't met anyone in person, but I've talked to a couple on the phone and they're not anonymous to me. I've also become close to a few just through PMs, the chatroom and posting. I'd like to think that they think of me as a friend as much as I do them.

We can be hard on each other, like real family members...we can also be loving and supportive. I doubt and I'd hate to think any of us are lying or being insincere about anything. So john and joe Stick around, lay low, get some mental rest...we'll still be here. Hope you get some PFDAN.   [smiley=hug.gif]

Hey Joe,

Take the luxury and enjoy the sabby.  It's your rite.  I hope when you are done with the pity party that you will remember that there are people here who were there for YEW regardless of who agreed with their POLITICAL non-cluster views.

Harsh?  You betcha.

I know people are going to think I'm a shit head for saying this, but I quit worrying about what people think a long time ago.

Joe, I'm saddened that you feel the way you do right now.  I wish it were possible for people to discuss things like politics and religion intelligently and without getting their feelings hurt or hurting others.

However... why is it that everytime someone starts feeling this way, they have to make a show out of not posting for a while?  Why can't they just, uh, not post for a while?  You said you're going to be here reading...  Fine.  Do That.  When something grabs you, you'll post a reply, you know that.  Why is it necessary to tell the world that you're so upset that you can't bear to participate in discussion anymore.  Just don't, and leave the pity party bullshit in the can.  It's not necessary.  Go ahead and feel bad... everybody does once in a while.  But I wish people would just stop this making such a drama out of the fact they aren't going to post for a while.  Sorry buddy, I just don't think it's worth posting.

Now that I got that off my chest (and it wasn't all about you my friend)... go ahead and take a break.  We'll all be anxiously awaiting your next post.

Sorry yall are discouraged.. Stick around when ya can. I came to this site several years ago out of desperation. At that time I was looking for information. I found it. No harm no foul. I then spooked around on and off never posting or engaging in the board. Mostly when gettin hit, all doped up and depressed. I now stick around for the peanuts LOL [smiley=laugh.gif] Really some of you people have given me the laughs just when I needed it.
Most times now my intention by interaction on this site is solely to pass it on. I somehow feel obligated to help others with this affliction and are fightin the battle. If I get a few laughs along the way fine . If someone flames me or disagrees, hey were all different and that is normal. If I get flamed 100 times and I help 1 time, it's worth it to me. Hope ya get to feelin better about it anyway. VIBES

Joe,

Take your time. For some, debate and argument can be a tiring ordeal, for others it is invigorating and enlivening... All the crazies will still be here when you decide to jump back in.

Let me apologize first for being a "drama queen" there. I blame not much sleep and a bit of depression from what I consider to be bad news. Add to that the exhaustion of getting accustomed to working two jobs now, and that could help explain my state of mind.

Then let me thank everyone for messages of support, they really helped me a lot.

I'm not in so much of a funk anymore, though I still have some residual sadness.

I've been reading, as I said, and I'm still not gonna participate in the political debate here for a while. But expect a post in the "expose yourself" thread soon. Maybe that will help some people understand where I'm coming from.

But mostly, to everyone from red to blue, thanks for being here.

Joe
