Hi Gang!

Just wanted to post an update and say thanks again to all the people I've been talking to. I am currently editing the footage that I shot in Nashville. I hope to use that as a way to get some grant money to finish the film. I would like to come to visit some of you fine people and see how clusters affect your daily lives. So anyway, I'm making a DVD with Chuck's attack on it along with bytes from the interviews I was able to do with some of you in Nashville. I think it will be a really great collection of stories and information that will get our cause out there. If anyone has anything that they would like to share please email me anytime at justinott@mac.com. I'm always looking for good stories or clusterheads who are trying alternative methods or had success with medications, etc.

Justin,

Thanks so much for making this video. We showed this video at the beginning of our meeting with the doctors/researchers in Boston who will be heading the LSD/psilocybin/ cluster headache research. I can't even describe how the doctors were blindsided by the severity of the pain, they had no idea. Even the director of Harvard Medical School was impressed and is very openly supporting this research study.
We are still in need of another $100,000 to support this research, if anybody is interested in making a tax deductible donation to MAPS:

Be sure to specify in the comments section that the funds are intended for the cluster headache research.

MAPS is just assisting with the donations and research and is not charging any overhead fees. All the money donated will go directly to the clusterhead research.

Let me speak up here. I hope I am not out of line, Justin.

When I agreed to this filming, I gave all rights to it to Justin. He owns it. He is trying to make a film. I am sure, he wants to get the information out, AND make some money. There is NOTHING wrong with this. Let him make the film, and earn his money. After it is out, THEN I would feel better about letting so many people see it. Let Justin get his portion FIRST. He earned that right! He deserves that. It is his choice, to let it out before then or not, but I think he should hold onto it, until his film is done. Let him finish his work.

Just my feelings on the requests of him letting it out too soon.

Really? Come on now! Lets get real! Of COURSE he is doing it to get the word out, but also, I think, to make some money at the same time.

What is the problem here? How can ANYONE hold this against him? He is doing us a HUGE favor. I don't see how anyone can begrudge him making a few dollars at the same time.

I hope he makes a LOT of money from it! The more he makes from it, the wider the distribution he/we get! I, for one, am damn glad I was able to contribute to his endeavor. Everyone of you should be too! It is not like he is taking advantage of us. Remember, he is one of us!

I respectfully disagree.
It was not made clear at the time that he was doing this for money. I thought he was doing this like the CHATS teams was... for the cause, regardless of money. Any money made from this should go to OuCH.

Just my disappointed opinion.

Help me out here folks. I'm confused. I read and re-read Justin's message and the only "money" thing I see is he is hoping for a grant to continue the work.

How did this get to be a "capitalist venture"? When and/or where did Justin say he was going to be making any money from his project?

Just saw your post jonny, that I would call that wrong- but I don't have information to really figure out. If I was doing the video, I would have gotten you on tape- you could count on it, what a missed opportunity.

LOL! you guys are great. I love my clusterhead family.

There is little intention of making money on this film. There really is no market for independent documentaries. That's why I'm trying to raise money through grants. The main objective is to get the word out. It's something that everyone one of us will have acces to when it's done. I'll set up a website and you all can purchase it on dvd at the cost of a blank dvd :) - then you can hand it to your dr., your friends, familiy, etc. BUT, I am a filmmaker. And I only want to use my abilities to do some good for us. I want to get it into some festivals and see what happens. It's just more exposure. For clusterheads and myself as a filmmaker. If it does sell or make any money then I would like to donate a good portion of that to OUCH , it's always been my intention. I'm not defending myself, but I just wanted to make it clear incase I hadn't already :)

you all are so great. as i head into my fall cycle i can watch the footage from nashville and draw strength from it knowing that you all got my back! :)

Ditto on that too

What Chuck did was a major contribution on get clusterheadache known to the people.

From my standpoint and experience with the film its just priceless for us

And a MAJOR thanx to Justin for doing this magnificent work.
