Title: Electronic Bush People Post by Kris_in_SJ on Oct 25th, 2004, 9:14pm OK - For the past 3 weeks, I've been getting about 3-4 call a day of electronic taped messages from what I call the "Bush People." I can't think of anything else more obnoxious, irritating, and useless as a campaign tactic! Since I work at home and my business and home #'s are the same, some of these calls have come in while I'm on calls with clients - @%##@^&*$!! Anyone else bothered? Anyone know how to get off this list? Suddenly, and now FOREVER a Democrat, Kris |

Title: Re: Electronic Bush People Post by Melissa on Oct 25th, 2004, 9:19pm Here's an opposite for you. I've been getting 3 flyers a day and 4-5 calls a week from pro-Kerry people. I'm ready to change my number and get a p.o. box. ::) oh yeah, p.s. Kris, the election is next week, just try to hang on till after that!! ;) |

Title: Re: Electronic Bush People Post by AussieBrian on Oct 25th, 2004, 9:19pm We had elections here in Oz just recently and the PM used the same tactic. Community outrage was such that we're hoping no-one else will try it. Mind you, he got back in. AussieBrian. |

Title: Re: Electronic Bush People Post by ckelly181 on Oct 25th, 2004, 10:13pm Sigh - I usually enjoy political discourse, but I'm turning the channel more and more..this needs to be done. Unfortunately placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most, but not all, telemarketing calls. You may still receive calls from political organizations, charities, telephone surveyors or companies with which you have an existing business relationship. I'm getting pretty good at saying - NO! TAKE ME OFF THIS @#$% LIST. Ahhh...that felt better. Chris |

Title: Re: Electronic Bush People Post by Rock_Lobster on Oct 25th, 2004, 11:20pm Today I had George Bush call me... but I could tell it was a recording because he did not stutter or mispronounce anything. >:( Then, about an hour later, Rick Santorum gave me a ring. >:( Then, less than 30 minutes later, a live human rang me. I told her that my wife and I made a deal... the next call we received... that we would be voting for the OTHER candidate unless that person really really kissed our asses. After about 45 seconds of her verbally licking my feet, I informed her that truly she sucks at this, and as such am now voting for Kerry. :D |

Title: Re: Electronic Bush People Post by nani on Oct 26th, 2004, 1:16am I voted on the first day voting was allowed here in NM. I only wish there was a way to stop all this crap. Phone calls, commercials, mailings, not to mention a ridiculous amount of future litter in the way of sign on the roads... We need some serious election reform people... Let's start DEMANDING IT! >:( Let's call, write and advertise to them... |

Title: Re: Electronic Bush People Post by Gator on Oct 26th, 2004, 1:58pm I'm on both Oklahoma's and the National "Do Not Call List" I am also registered as an Independent. I would rather it say "No Party Affiliation," but it is what it is. The lists work for me. I get no phone calls from any political party. In fact, I get very few unsolicited phone calls, except from bill collectors and the odd wrong number. While I am happy to be able to sit through a meal without someone trying to sell me something, it was fun to screw with the telemarketers once in a while. Gator |

Title: Re: Electronic Bush People Post by Charlie on Oct 26th, 2004, 2:04pm I haven't gotten too many political calls. Some local stuff but mostly mailings and the like. Of course I shut off the phone around dinner for a few hours. I know most of you can't do that. The Bust crowd has called more often which is pretty dumb....since I re-registered as a Democrat. I'm on the do not call list but it's legal for State Police "barbecue" scammers and stuff like PBS to bug me. I a real shit to most of them anyway. Charlie |

Say it ain't so, Charlie! ;;D I usually tell them that I'm an anarchist and that I advocate a violent overthrow of the government because I'm tired of being a tax-slave. Then I tell them if they give me money, I will vote for their candidate. Sometimes I ask them if their candidate is willing to promise sexual favors in return for my vote. I sometimes ask what color panties they are wearing, or how many sex toys they own. They usually hang up pretty quickly. But if not, I can always think of more obnoxious things to ask them. Candidates and political groups are not bound to the "Do Not Call" lists - atleast not the national list, not sure about the Oklahoma law. I'm on the national list, but still a get political calls. The recorded messages are truly annoying. The script reading people can be funny. |

Title: Re: Electronic Bush People Post by Melissa on Oct 26th, 2004, 3:47pm 2 canned recorded message so far today. Last one from Mary Steenbergen ::). OMG I wish a live one would call, they'd end up needing a hearing aid. >:( |

Title: Re: Electronic Bush People Post by vig on Oct 26th, 2004, 5:51pm I just got a call from Sen. John McCain. I thought he was the only one that had some sense left. Boy am I let down. John, John, John.... :-/ |

Title: Re: Electronic Bush People Post by Redd715 on Oct 26th, 2004, 8:18pm The do not call lists are only in force for companies who are soliciting products or services for profit. Non profit, and political org.s are not bound by this. This is nation wide. (Don't ask me how I know this you don't wanna know!) |

Title: Re: Electronic Bush People Post by Kris_in_SJ on Oct 26th, 2004, 9:00pm So ... after I vented here last night, I went to the GOP website and sent an email demanding that my number be immediately removed from all "Electronic Bush People" call centers. Then I called my local GOP headquarters and left a message saying the same thing. In fact, at the local site (I know a few of the staff there), I said I would never vote for a republican ever again if I got any further calls. So far ... no calls today. I figure they either listened and acted - or - tomorrow I'll get 10 calls because I'm on the every other day list! LOL Kris |

Title: Re: Electronic Bush People Post by vig on Oct 27th, 2004, 4:54pm Laura just called... Laura Bush. She wouldn't stop talking. Wouldn't answer ANY of the questions I asked. Talked over me the whole time. I couldn't get a word in edge-wise. Sheesh. :-/ (I DO hope this tactic backfires on them.) |
