Title: Ree. this is for you. Post by Jayne on Oct 23rd, 2004, 10:48am My roommate wrote a song about Military families. John Conlee took the song and put it on his new album. Here are the lyrics for you. It is called "They also serve" http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:rk4GYlt1j50J:theyalsoserve.expage.com/id13.html+%22Eight+Spirits+Music%22&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 |

Title: Re: Ree. this is for you. Post by Ree on Oct 23rd, 2004, 12:08pm Jayne that was beautiful... I feel sometimes in the town that I live in people truly don't support the troops and so I have had to rely on my support groups for comfort and I have to say you and alot of people here have definately calmed my fears. With the exception of one person that accused me of whining of course. (and I am having a difficult time forgiving that heartless individual) I love you dearly... Tell your friend to keep up her chin... better days ahead.... here is a poem I wrote for Scott and a graphic that I backed it with is the type of helicopter he flies... It is called Wings of Silver Steel. God bless you for thinking about me in this week that was so difficult for me... I love you so much Reehttp://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b4ce02b3127ccea963c71af9b70000001610 |

Title: Re: Ree. this is for you. Post by Donna_H on Oct 23rd, 2004, 1:03pm Ree: I am again surprised with your sometimes hidden talents. That poem is excellently written and beautiful. It is very touching and needs to be shared with the world. I am going to e-mail you an address where budding artists sometimes merit a start in this art. |

Title: Re: Ree. this is for you. Post by Gator on Oct 23rd, 2004, 5:23pm Thanks Jayne. Now I'm sitting here trying to dry me eyes so I can see to post here. I haven't heard the song, yet, but I loved the lyrics. Most people seem to recognize the difficulties for those who leave to go to war. I wish more people would recognize just how difficult it is for the one's left behind. I wish they could understand the horror and the anxiety the family goes through, every time a casualty report is broadcast on the air as nonchalantly as tomorrow's weather. Time comes to a stand still until the name of the fallen is released and the families (all but one, anyways) breathe their collective sigh of relief that, at least this time, it wasn't their family member. Ree, you know we stand here with you during these trying times. The poem was beautiful. Thanks for sharing it with us. I pray for strength for you and your family and for safety for Scott until you are all re-united. Mike |

Not only was that beautiful and obviously written from the heart, but the whole presentation with the hellicopter in the background- Scott must be as proud of you as you are of him! Is there anything you can not do? ................alley |

Title: Re: Ree. this is for you. Post by nancyc on Oct 24th, 2004, 1:41pm A subject dear to my heart....Ree, know that not a day goes by that I dont think of you and your family. This southern clusterhead definetly has your family on her prayer list. Your poem was awesome...I know your son will cherish it always. Jayne, I loved your roommate's song....I plan to buy his CD as there are also alot of songs on there that my patients will love to hear....old gospel favorites for them! Tell him thanks for remembering that the whole family suffers.....My son was gone for the first year of my grandson's life...He never left the US but he was not home with his family and my grandson suffered alot. I can remember Tristan running up to a man in the store and hugging him and wanting him to pick him up...It broke my heart...My son can not wear his uniform around Tristan now when he gets ready to go to National Guard....Tristan thinks he is leaving again and starts crying....This war is devasting in so many different ways...I pray our soldiers come home soon.... smiles, nancyc |
