Title: Re: Happiness is.... Post by sandie99 on Oct 22nd, 2004, 6:42am I made once a list about all the things which make me happy. My godson is absolutely one of them! Kids have still that lovely innocence and excitement. Only opening Christmas gifts brings the same feeling alive inside my heart for a moment. Lots of PFdays, sandie99 |

Title: Re: Happiness is.... Post by ExplodingEyeBall on Oct 22nd, 2004, 9:41am I was having a really bad day yesterday working at the Library. I had to get some information from someone who almost always puts me in a foule mood. When I was done, I was fuming. So. I walk past the circulation desk and a woman walks up and puts her 6 month old daughter on the counter. She looks at me and gives me the biggest smile. (The baby, not the mother). The foul mood left pretty quick. Babies are Gods' way of reminding me how wonderful life can really be. |

Title: Re: Happiness is.... Post by Lizzie2 on Oct 22nd, 2004, 3:53pm It got even better today!! For the first time in my life, I saw a baby being born. :) The mom had an induced labor. It was her 3rd child. She came in at 8am, and the baby was born at 11:20. It went very fast!!! The baby was a boy, and he is 5 pounds 15 oz, and 19 inches long. He had to be the most adorable thing I've ever seen in my life!!! I helped to dry him off right after he popped out, and helped to get his first set of vital signs...all kinds of fun!!!! I even got to give him his bottle this afternoon because babies under 6 pounds have to be fed every 3 hours. It was pretty crazy watching the birth, but it was AMAZING!!! Life beginning.. Man I wanted to cry!! haha I asked my teacher to give me some time in the NICU when there are more babies in there so I can see if it would really be the area I'd like to work in. Wow...I honestly NEVER thought I would like working in this area...and I love it!! Hugz, Lizzie2/Carrie :) [smiley=baby.gif] |

Title: Re: Happiness is.... Post by Woobie on Oct 23rd, 2004, 8:23am When my first daughter was born she was in ICU (beta strep) and there was a little crack baby in there. His name was Frankie - he was so tiny - didn't have a shot in hell. His bitch mother = OMG - never mind. Let's just say - I will NEVER forget Frankie. :'( Baby nurses are the best ~ you gotta be a special kind of person to be able to have that job. tina :-* |

Title: Re: Happiness is.... Post by catlind on Oct 23rd, 2004, 9:39am Word of advice, if you decide to go into L&D remember that the nurses are a labouring mother's best friend, not the doctor - so always listen to them and help them out even when it means the doc didn't 'approve'. A labouring mother is a dangerous dangerous person if they are upset ;) My 2nd was 2 hours start to finish and my 3rd was 3 hours, fast is good! Course I have no idea what that 5lb deal is, mine were all 8 and 9 hehe. The miracle of life is the most amazing thing I have ever experienced in my life. Good luck to you it will be a great place if you love it :) Cat |
