Title: Anyone got a Quran? Post by Big Dan on Oct 21st, 2004, 2:15pm My mother just sent me a chain mail, which I normally disregard, but found this one interesting. In it was the following: And also... This is something to think about! Since America is typically represented by an eagle. Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages... The following verse is from the Koran, (the Islamic Bible) Koran (9:11) - For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace. Just wondering if anyone could actually verify if that passage is correct or not. And no, don't come stirrin' up shit with this (not that saying that's going to stop it) -Big Dan |

Title: Re: Anyone got a Quran? Post by Simon on Oct 21st, 2004, 2:58pm Why would someone produce material which is so easily debunked - ie by looking at the book. My translation for 9:11 gives: "Yet if they repent and perform the prayer, and pay the alms, then they are your brothers in religion....." That is in itself interesting! Perhaps Mr Atta should have had that thought programmed in his head. Incidentally I thought we had outgrown the (to some) offensive habit of referring to the Koran/Qu'ran as the Muslim Bible. Perhaps we should always refer to the Bible as the Christian Qu'ran? :) Dolly |

Title: Re: Anyone got a Quran? Post by clarence on Oct 21st, 2004, 3:07pm Good rule of thumb: Absolutely ignore any chain email dealing with religion, prosperity, or bad luck. Chain internet mail is a sham. Casey |

Title: Re: Anyone got a Quran? Post by Jeepgun on Oct 21st, 2004, 4:19pm The Quran is a wonderful book, and Islam is a very noble religion. If there is any modern hope for Islam, it rests with moderate Muslims and with the Sufis. |
