Title: Unsolved is back -->
Post by unsolved1 on Oct 20th, 2004, 1:43am
Good News:
I've spent the last 2 weeks at the Diamond Headache Clinic getting the Histamine Drip Therapy. It definately did me some good. I've only used 3 - 2mg shots of Imitrex in the past 2 weeks. I'm back at home now and still PF   :D

Bad news:
Imitrex ... I eat it for breakfast. NOBODY has done more than me. It has caused me to have a "Leaky heart valve". They said it was minor right now but could get worse. I have to have another 'echo test' in a few months. They also want to limit me to "up to 2 (2mg) shots per day and no more than twice a week".
Not sure how that is going to work out.

Chronic steriod use has:
(1) given me an infection in the mouth, coating my tongue and causing a burning feeling. I have to take meds for it.
(2) done some minor - moderate bone damage. I must now take a couple of meds for this, and try to quit using steriods so much too.
(3) Gained about 20 lbs recently. I'm all 'puffy' and swelled up (ankles, legs, face, fingers)

Tired tonight. Gotta get some rest. For some reason, even the smallest task make me out of breath. Need more air !

Til I feel better

PF Wishes to all,

Special thanks to Thomas for calling and brightening up my day.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Glad you're back and really glad you had good results.  I hope you continue to feel better so your entire body can have some med free time.  Welcome back!!!

Welcome Back!  We've missed ya, bro.  Kind of a mixed bag they handed you there.   Hopefully you can remain pain free permanently.  Lord knows you've been through more than your fair share.

You are in my prayers again tonight.  PF Vibes on the way as well.

Gator

Hmmm, Doc just ordered me a new pred taper.  With all the problems people are having because of steroids, it makes me leary of taking it.  The "cure" sometimes seems worse than the disease.

Michael,

I'm SO glad to hear you are getting some muchly needed PF time.  Isn't it GREAT?   ;)

I'm really happy the drip has helped you!  On the other hand, the bad news brings mixed emotions.  [smiley=huh.gif]

All but #2 of the steroid use can be fixed, which is good but is there a way to replace/repair bone damage or just a way to prevent further damage?

As for the trex effects...that sux.  Need a good ticker once you kick the beast out of your life!!   As well, cutting back the trex use...what alternative do they have for you to break the ch's?

It is good to see you posting again.  You were definitely missed!   :-*

Sounds like a full check up Michael.  The pain free time is great for you.  Glad you're back.   :)  Maybe oxygen will work for you again.

Mike---

Terrific news generally and glad you finally got a break! Welcome back.

Now, spending that time (and assumably) money at the clinic do they have a plan for you? Some formation of an attack that's  perhaps offensive?  I hate to hear how the meds have beaten up your system but as long as it's not irrevocable 'ol Mike should pull through just fine.

Silly as it seems, if there's anything I can do for ya please ask. Nice to see your text here!

Michael,

I am so happy tha tyou are back and for all intents and purposes better and PF.  I hope that the Beast does decide that he has stent enough time with you and leaves you alone.  Are there any other Tripan besides Trex that you can use or is it a general Tripan medical issue and they want to limit you on all of them?  Take your time and get your strength back.   You have lots of support here and loads of people who care about you and will help in any way that they can.

Please keep us posted and be causeful with that heart of yours.  You still have a long life to lead.

PF Wishes, my friend
-Tia

Let us know how you're doing. We're all behind you.

Welcome back Unsolved.

Hope you stay PF for a long time.

At the Nashcon presentation they talked as Amerge was in a different class of Triptans which does NOT effect your heart like other Triptans. They even said that it could be possible as a prevent ? You may want to ask more questions about that statement with your Neuro. Just possible it could be another option for you. What about 02 ?

Hope you find something to keep the Beast away should it show back up. Hoping it doesn't though.

Take care Michael
