Title: WebTV? Post by alleyoop on Oct 17th, 2004, 10:17pm My mom is 77. Her eyesight sucks, but she still has a thirst for knowledge and reads (with a magnifying glass) as much as she can. While talking to her on the phone tonight, she expressed an interest in getting a computer. I thought about WebTV. I read somewhere in the last couple of days that MSN is adding new features to WebTV. I'm afraid that at her age, a computer might be a little intimidating. I know next to nothing about WebTV. If anyone can help me out here, I'd appreciate it. Thanks........ ...........alley :) |

Title: Re: WebTV? Post by Tom K on Oct 17th, 2004, 10:44pm My parents had WebTV, it worked for my father who is technologiclly challenged. He got pretty good at it. I would say you should give it a shot. The unit is pretty cheap and if she can work a VCR, then she should have no problem. The TV gets tuned to channel 3 just like a VCR and the keyboard is wireless, so she can still sit in her favorite chair. The printer interface is pretty expensive, or it was when they bought it. It was a pretty good stepping stone, because now my father has a computer and flies around the web pretty good with that. T |
