We used to hunt wild boar when I was at Ft. Polk, LA, but nobody ever pulled down a 900 pounder.  Sheesh!

Time to move to Georgia.

Gosh, my son is getting ready for hog hunting - gotta show him his "objective". Don't think my freezer would hold one that big, but it would feed all us and the neighbors for the year I think.  Maybe he'd better take the BIG guns.... Some of them critters might a migrated to Texas...

Probably both Steve.

First you build a big fire and let it burn down to nothing but hot embers. Then you bury the hog, fire and all. Let it cook, dig it up and enjoy! It's a taste you won't soon forget. That's the way to cook a hog in Georgia!

When this story came out a couple of months ago, I read it, and if I remember correctly, they didn't eat the pig.  They buried it.  Something about it being too old, or tough, or gross...I don't know.  Anyway, I remember the article said that the estimated weight was 900 lbs., but that they never actually weighed it, only took this picture, and then buried it.  Kinda strange...
I'll try to find that article.

my dad used hunt and fish alot,
they would catch a wild hog or run it down with blue tic
hounds. then put them in a pen get it fat. 150 lb most
of the time. they would get them fat up to 300 lb. then
time for the slaughter house. they are mean and have
tusk. my dad told me one time he had one holding it
shouting out for his hunting friends to come help the
hog jerked from him and gave him a nasty deep cut.
he also would coon hunt. he loved the outdoors.
he has taken me hunting when i was a kid. he was
a great dad. he past away 3yrs ago 10/18/01 i sure
do miss him.PFDAN to all
