hi all

I am hurting so much,I have done the o2  and before t hat I was at party so when I felt one coming on I started pounding the rum and cokes, did not work just made it worse.

Am out of Ametrex I have ice but not helping whjat to do now ????????????

Sorry you're getting hit! You might try a shower. Start with it as hot as you can stand, then switch to cold. Alternate as needed. Works for me sometimes when nothing else will.

Hope you get relief soon...........

NO! For most alcohol is a trigger. Rum and cokes are probably what kicked it off.

heading for a beer and a cigarette since that is all that I have here right now,

I realize that is probably not the right thing to do but it will bring me pain relief right now until the drug store opens....

You sure fought hard for that excuse to drink.
I used to wash my pain meds down with tumblers of vodka....of course...I am an alchoholic.

Glad those dumb ass days are over....still get clusters though.

I would have told you to try running...as far and as fast as possible till the pain subsided.

Dave,

Try 3 Extra Strength Excedrin and some strong black coffee. Sometimes this along with some O2 will abort mine.

But *** Warning -- don't try this too often as it will cause rebound headaches.

Hope you get some relief soon.....

and if you were to read closer.. he did offer some advice for the relief you "seem" to be seeking....running...exercise works for a lot of us. By the way..the alcohol probably DID trigger the headache...

hey Dave,

ice paks (crush the ice and put in a zip lock bag) or use frozen veggies.  Brew some strong coffee and SWIG it down - lost of it.  I twine up a towel and wrap it around my neck tight.  Walk around.  Take a cold shower.  

The reason the alcohol triggers so predictably is because alcohol is a vasodilator.  Caffeine is a natural vasoconstrictor and that is what you need to be going on right now.

Davebrick - you were actually given some pretty good advice here but it seems your attitude got in the way.

Listen to those who have been here and suffered for many years with this beast.  You can learn a lot, but first you have to pull your head out of your butt and recognize, they're offering help.  Den's suggestion of running was a good point as are the others of ice, drinking hot strong coffee, showers either hot or cold.

Why on earth would you continue to pour booze down your throat when you know what it can do.  

Frankly, as a Canadian, I'm offended by what you've said to some of the good folks here.

Sometimes we learn by speaking less and reading more.  Have you checked all the information to the left of the message board?  Perhaps that would be a good place to start.

It did not appear any of the good advice was being heeded.  If you look hard enough, I guess you can find something negative in the replies and dwell on that.  I seems you were just going to drink more no matter what was offered.  That was what happened.  I find Den's remark insightful.  
 At this point, bearing the pain seems inevitable.  You have oxygen, so it must work for you.  If it didn't work this time, I might think it would be because of the alcohol.  You chose to drink more, despite what was offered.  
 If you were intent upon not causing more suffering for yourself, I would have curtailed the drinking when you felt it coming, otherwise you should know the consequences.  
 The pain was not being frowned upon, the persistence to continue to make matters worse was.
 I would keep the ice handy, but in an icepack, not in a glass at times like this, but I believe this advice and Den's idea was already mentioned, so I have nothing to add.

Guy asked a question and here comes the paddy wagon.  What i know of that guy Den tells me he's a big boy who has paid his own way plenty.

Knowledge is power.  You'll be surprised, Dave, at how that knowledge is tossed aside at yearly conventions...

Anyhow poopsie, you jes keep yer eye on the tiger ;)  Rue the day you kill your attitude - it will help you to take what you need and toss the rest.

This, I guess was my point too Dave.  Feeling one coming and choosing to drink first and then ask for help second was a tall order for us to fill.
