Title: Please help is now please accept my thanks Post by sadwife on Sep 28th, 2004, 11:05pm I am new to this and wrote on to my previous message, only I'm not so sure you all will get it so forgive me here it goes... Gender: Posts: 3 Re: Please help « Reply #22 on: Today at 10:13pm » Quote Modify Remove -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wow, I have just gotten home from what seemed to be an endless day after my fourth night of no sleep, and to what to my wondering eyes do appear, but tons of messages filled with love and cheer I can't thank you all enough for the love and encouragement you have sent my way. To give an update, after reading about has helped so many of you, I called and got my husband a presciption for O2, to be given at any emergency or urgent care facility. Even better I called my husbands father in the wee hours of the morning (he works for a medical supply company) and by noon he had taken the presciption and delivered my husband a portable tank. what helped even more is after reading I realized that my mother (who lives W/us) takes veraparimil...yes I was bad and at 4am I borrowed one, needless to say my husband went back to work at 2PM, (he has been out since Friday) and I am at this very minute happily typing away. (He doesn't have a CH, so far) I also printed out alot of information and your kind messages, so that he could see how many wonderful people are in the world. (my husband is very pessimistic, and thinks I look too much for the good in others when I should be looking over my shoulder Anyway being that he isn't much of a talker and definitely not a computer geek, he did ask me to speak on his behalf. For the first time in weeks he feels hope, love, and I think a touch of what he has not understood about me. He is actually smiling and telling his family about the wonderful web-site I have found. May God richly bless you all and your families, I couldn't in ten lifetimes tell you what the last 18 hours you have given me has meant. In all the bad that goes on in this crazy world, you have shown me I am not crazy, there are good people you simply have to reach out and receive them. Kindly, Not so sadwife tonite IP Logged |

Title: Re: Please help is now please accept my thanks Post by Jayne on Sep 28th, 2004, 11:32pm Ok now I'm crying too. Please use my # ANYTIME just a note though, verapamil is not a drug that will take away one headache (abortive), it is used as a preventative and you have to take it every day. So giving him one pill will not do anything for him. It has to get into your system over a period of about 10 days for it to work. The dosage can be as low as 180mg to work or as high as 920 mg. This you need to go to the doctor/ neurologist for. It is the drug of choice for the majority of clusterheads. I hope that helps Jayne |

Title: Re: Please help is now please accept my thanks Post by Jimi on Sep 28th, 2004, 11:59pm Well I look too much for the good in others too and I think that is the only way to be. Such a heartwarming post. Thanks for sharing that with us. Remember, the regulator needs to be at least 8 LPM. So I hope you got a regulator big enough. For some it takes 10 LPM. If it works and he is having most of his ha's at night, you ought to consider the large H tank and have it sitting next to his bed. Keep us posted. :) |

Title: Re: Please help is now please accept my thanks Post by Charlie on Sep 29th, 2004, 12:34am I just read your other posts and I'm very happy to see this thread. Here's hoping that things continue to look up. Because it's nearly impossible to make others understand, here is a link to a letter or description that does a wonderful job. It's the best we have at explaining that this has nothing to do with what others think when they hear "headache." http://www.clusterheadaches.org.uk/home/index.cfm?address=../clusters/note_colleagues.cfm&added=04/01/04&code=CB Good luck and let us know how you're doing. Title: Re: Please help is now please accept my thanks Post by don on Sep 29th, 2004, 10:26am Glad your getting some help ! Quote:
Verapamil is used as a preventative, not an abortive. Daily dosing of verapamil ussually takes 10-14 days to become effective. |

Title: Re: Please help is now please accept my thanks Post by Kris_in_SJ on Sep 29th, 2004, 9:02pm Hi, Read your follow-up post on the other thread, as well. I'm so glad to hear you and your hubby are getting a little relief. I'm sure you've heard the caution on the Verapamil by now - it will take a couple weeks of steady and increased dosing to really kick in, but in the meatime it's wonderful to hear that O2 and your healing hands are helping. My daughter is just finishing her certification in medical massage therapy, so I know she would especially appreciate how your accupressure works wonders (I plan to share that with her). Stay with us, and encourage your non-geeky cluster husband to join, as well. You're now part of a big, new family, whether you planned it or not! Many Hugs, Kris |
