Did you feel it? We just had an earthquake!

Supposedly a 6.0 centered on the Central Coast...I felt it and I'm 135 miles from the epicenter!

Is everybody south of me ok??

So. Calif. is drifting towards Hawaii Virginia. The new Coastal Port will be in Phoenix.

Fox News just said it was centered in an isolated area near Paso Robles. 5.8 and 10 aftershocks.
It was felt 200 miles north in San Jose and Sacramento but not felt 200 miles south in LA.

I'm in San Luis Obispo, about 20 miles south of Paso. It was a roller, no sharp jolts. I've felt a lot more wobbly on a hangover morning than from this quake. It was out by Parkfield. They actually have lazers set up accross the San Andreas Fault there and measure the two plates as they slide past each other. It's earthquake capital of Californee. Still waitin' on "the big one"!

Hope all of our Cali fam is safe and sound. We had some serious earthquakes when I was stationed in Japan. Had a 7.something hit out in the ocean. No major damage where I was. Mostly stuff just fell off the walls.

Speaking of Mount St. Helens, when she popped her top back in 1980 we got ash all the way down in Louisiana. That was trippy.

In January 1989, I was training with the Japanese Army on the northern island of Hokkaido. The emperor had just died, so all training was halted for a week. Of course, being soldiers, we spent our time wisely. (Getting stinkin-assed drunk) [smiley=laugh.gif]

One morning, we had an earthquake that literally tossed my ass out of bed. I was so hungover, I just rested my face on the cold tile and went back to sleep.

Just after my wife and I were married, we were moved into Army quarters, in which the master bedroom was upstairs. One night, as we're lying in bed talking, we heard what sounded like a train coming towards the house. Before I had a chance to say, "What's that?" the whole house started shakin and quakin. I was trying to be the "protective husband," and saying, "There there..." but it kept going and going, and I began thinking, If this bitch doesn't quit shaking, I'm OUTTA HERE! [smiley=laugh.gif]

Where I grew up, we had aftershocks from the earthquake that leveled the town of Colinga, CA in the 80's.

Earthquakes are scary as hell...

Yo Virginia,

I was conducting a training at a meeting, and thought that I had vertigo - then I realized that the flipchart was swaying, not me....and this was in San Jose.

Guesss, I oughta turn on the news now and again....a 6.0, hmm? Okay, that qualifies as a quake...good job!

Being a veteran, I, for one, would much rather have a 6.0 EQ than any calibre of Hurricane..I dont understand those things at all!

I spent a week in Colinga one day. Believe me, Colinga needed to be flattened. 8)

I like California quakes. Every time there's a quake my house gets closer to the beach. ;)
