Title: People see a Cast...and go "awww" Post by yikes_another_one on Sep 22nd, 2004, 7:37pm :-/ People see a cast, and they immediately say, "Awww, what happened?" It's not that they care you are hurt, they just want to know what you did to injure yourself. With our pain, well, there is no cast.... so most don't even bother to ask, "Why you cryin'?" It's the same with insensitive spouses... which I hope none of you have.... ONe time my sister-in-law had an opperation on her shoulder....something about her rotator-cup and as long as the bandage was on, my brother, bless his ever kind heart he'd remember not to nudge her, or hug her on that side of the body. Once the bandages were off, she was still just as tender as ever.... and he'd constantly forget, and hug her or nudge her.... and then act surprised when she yelped in pain. We have that kind of invisible wound, the world can't empathize with what it can't see... and remember that adage... "Out of sight, out of mind" Wish I could wear a sign, "Danger, Fierce battle rage-ing...." Or something . Hey, maybe I'll knit a hat.... what the best colors? Yellow and black???? lol wishin us all a few pf hours..... TJ |

Title: Re: People see a Cast...and go "awww" Post by BarbaraD on Sep 23rd, 2004, 6:02am Maybe we could come up with a cap with a spike in the top, a nail in the eye and an ice pick in the ear -- that should get some attention. Maybe then someone would say, awwwwwww! Hugs BD |
