I just wanted to ask, has anyone out there had an occular migraine. I had my first yesterday. I also had a really bad day and night with CH'ers. Last night every two hours, one while I was at the hospital having the eye thing checked out. I get my CH's on my right side and this occular, came on my left side.
Just was wondering

Not that I know of. Was told that I have Occipital Neuralsia as well as CH... not sure if that is similar. The neuro did not use Migraine with it. Guess he had a clue that I probably would have ripped his balls off if he had. ;;D

I am not sure either, guess I could check it out.
Thank you so much for the input, I think I am one of those people who after taking the Prednisone taper things get worse.
I didn't like that trip anyway.

A variant of classic migraine termed ocular migraine has a visual aura without any headache . Many people are unaware that ocular migraine is very common.

Please don't come up with another type of headache. I'm suseptiple (and I really butchered that word) to anything to do with headaches. I already have THREE different types of them now. That's about all I can handle in this lifetime.

Seriously, Ruth... sorry about this. But agree -- tell your doc about the predisone taper.... Could be something there and PF days to you

How long do your Ch attacks last. Every two hours seems extreme

Thanks guys for all of the words.
I am not sure how long one would last if I let it run it's course, but typically between a half or to up to 2 hours.
Today I just feel like it is there just waiting to go postal.
Sense I found this site and have got abort meds I don't let it get too bad before I put and end to it.
I tired a couple of times last night to get through it with out an imitrex shot, but couldn't do it, (ain't I a wus).
No, seriously fellow guys and gals I appreciate all the good thoughts, but I think if I had my choice I'd stick with the occular's at least they don't hurt, you just think your going blind, but even that goes away in a an hour or so,
Yes, I will speak with the Doctor about it though.

In summer 1993 I had 10 or 15 occular migraines and one isolated cluster attack, the first onw to hit me.

Towards the and of that year the cluster attacks increased in frequency, but I never had that starry thingie again.

I get those and they can be as dibilitating because you cant go anywhere when you cant see. There have been times when one side of my sight is completely taken over by prisms. There are times when the lights actually flash in front of my vision. Usually best to lie down til these pass and from what I hear though I have never tried because there isnt any pain involved. Imatrex works to relieve these type of Migraine also.

yes, they are very werid, because you can't see.

For the last 6 years I was chronic. I got hit 8x a day everyday every 2 hours. My ch would last 1 1/2 hrs then shadow for 30 min. then reach kip 10 again for 1 1/2 hrs only to shadow for 30 min and repeat over and over throught the day for 16 hours total while I was awake. It is no fun but I can certainly relate to the poster Ruth. I am now eposodic and been pain free for 6 months.

I have been diagnosed with occular Migraines. For me, they are not painful at all. Only happens with my left eye, (the same side I get clusters). I see everything in my periphial (SP?) start to flutter, then I completeley lose my periphial vision on that eye. After that, the sight I have left is VERY blury, and I can't focus at all! If I'm driving, I have to pull over because I can't see. AAAAAAAnd I have walked in to the wall before during an occular migraine at home! [smiley=ohjez.gif] They only last about a half hour or so, and I don't get them too often.
