Yep.  Coldest summer I can recall here in PA.

When are we supposed to start seeing the benefits of all this 'global warming' we keep hearing about?

I wish I was in Montana, then my cycle would be over as well.

Global warming doesn't mean it will always be warm everywhere.  It means an average increase of a few degrees, often in areas where the winter low is -20 and the highs in summer hit 105.

Worst season for tropical storms on record.

Glad your cycle is on the way out, VV2t

PFDAN to all....

Global warming... Hrmmm... I really think that this has more to do with the earth's natural cycles than with anything the puny little human race is/is not doing. I'm not saying we shouldn't be concerned about the environment, but I think much ado is being made over prognostications that have been made by plugging figures into computers and then reacting to the results as though they are factual science.

I've also read several books that deal with historical weather and a couple of them contained accounts of explorers writing about orange groves on the coast of the continent of Antarctica.

Global warming BETTER lower my heating bill.  [smiley=mad.gif]

If not, then I want my greenhouse gases back.

Natural variation is part of what we are seeing.  It's like erosion or extinction of species - those would happen without us, but we can make it alot worse.

The energy balance work is accepted science.  Doubling the CO2 by burning fossil fuels does increase the energy retention - humans may be puny, but their ability to transform is not.  The real questions are related to how that energy is distributed, and how many countervailing factors there are (increased reflection of light from pollution,  the role of more water vapor, which can either cool or heat the atmosphere depending on its form, the ability of the oceans to absorb heat and smooth things out, etc etc.).

Orange groves in Antarctica??  You mean fossils of tropical vegetation??  Antarctica does have fossils showing the climate was different a few hundred million years ago.  It has also been moving with tectonic plates, and was alot closer to the equator when it had tropical plants there.

Cool works for me  8)

It was the coolest summer I can remember here too. It's been in the 70s today. Warm for Sept.

Of all the things you can bring up; global warming is hard for me. I'll leave it to you folks.

Charlie

I've had cycles in the coldest part of winter.  Just saves the need for a ice pack.  Just go outside and let your head freeeeze.

btw Floridians right. I work on scientific instruments that fly on our weather satellites that measure the increase in temperature and the type and quantity of gases in the atmosphere.

My cycle is about to begin shortly, just in time for the holidays. Felt my first glimps of the hard core bastard today. Sun got brighter, nose shut down, gums got numb, teary eye but only mild pain. He's lurking guys, hopefully he holds off for a little while.

Glad to hear your at your end Vnam2, good days are on there way ;;D

If global warming is really due to man-made factors, I wonder what started and ended the last ice-age...

An overabundance of methane from dinosaur farts?

Ice Ages are caused by eccentricities in the orbit of the Earth. Every 100,000 years or so the Earth (because of gravitational pull of the Sun, Moon) goes from a nearly circular pattern to a more oblong pattern. And the tilt of the axis wobbles over time as well. This combination puts the Earth farther out from the sun - hence longer, colder periods of weather. There's more to it than that but that kinda sums it up.

Sorry dude! LOL...
I was always used to a 4 week cycle in the spring followed by a nice long break until the fall which I got hit again then winter was my salvation. This time I got hit near end of May(thought I skipped the spring) and I'm still in....So I'm hoping that based on that, maybe the cold will knock this thing out...If not, F it!! and bring me comfortable 60's ;)

Eric... (ssshhhhh....bring on the blizzard[smiley=laugh.gif])
