Title: Home Again - Hitting The Reset Button
Post by Jeepgun on Sep 19th, 2004, 5:51pm
To all who have inquired as to my wellbeing and your many kind comments: My apologies and thanks.

To all who have sent me vile PM's, even after Elaine and I both worked things out, I hope you don't choke to death and drown in your own poison.

I'm back.

Let's try this again: My name is Frank and I've had cluster headaches for seven years, now. I am episodic, and recently, thanks to this site, I have found a responsive and compassionate physician and a course of medication that seems to work well, both preventative medication and abortive medication. (Verapamil and injectable Imitrex) Thank you.

Kind Regards,
-Frank

I think it's HYPERdickimous around here but that's ok.  Explain it to the newbie, Jayne.

Welcome to Hotel California, Jeep !

Title: Re: Home Again - Hitting The Reset Button
Post by Jayne on Sep 20th, 2004, 12:07am
Ok then Frank,
we have a thingy in our noggins called a hiperdickimist.
See it's bigger than normal people's. Sometimes it gets pissed off, then it hurts us in the eyeball.
It makes me say "ow" or sometimes "ohhhh"
If my hipperdicktimist is in a particularly bad mood, I can even go as far to say as, "shit".
I go to Eckerds and they give me plastic bottles with smarties in them. I eat a lot of em, they keep my Hiperdicktimist quiet. The people at Eckerds are nice.
I sometimes suck air out of a big green metal thingymijig. I was told not to smoke while I was doing that. ?????
Well there you have it. If you ever need any more advice ask Lisaa or Ali, they got some brain shit they're doin'
I gotta go stand close to the washing machine now.

Thanks, all. LMAO, Jayne & Charlie!

My hippodictimusimus hurts. If anyone needs me, I'll be talkin' with Ali. (Smart pills? Yeah, I could use a couple of handfuls of those!)

By the way, anyone know what you're supposed to do for a Brown Recluse bite? I got bit early Saturday morning on my index finger. It's swollen and weepy and angry-looking... I think I'll make an appointment with my lovely GP... (General Practitioner. Not "GP," which stood for "General Purpose," which later evolved to "JEEP." )  [smiley=laugh.gif]

The Brown Recluse bite won't be much of a problem, once your finger goes necrotic and falls off.

Typical request for tech help in a Hummer forum:

The Cure fan here.   ;)

As to the spider subject:

Frank,

Links to some info I found when
I got bit by one of those little bast*rds.

WARNING! Some pictures at these sights graphic.

http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/2000/2061.html

From the site:

First Aid
If bitten, remain calm, and immediately seek medical attention (contact your physician, hospital and/or poison control center). Apply an ice pack directly to the bite area to relieve swelling and pain. Collect the spider (even a mangled specimen has diagnostic value), if possible, for positive identification by a spider expert. A plastic bag, small jar, or pill vial is useful and no preservative is necessary, but rubbing alcohol helps to preserve the spider.

An effective commercial antivenin is not available. The surgical removal of tissue was once standard procedure, but now this is thought to slow down wound healing. Some physicians administer high doses of cortisone-type hormones to combat hemolysis and other systemic complications. Treatment with oral dapsone (an antibiotic used mainly for leprosy) has been suggested to reduce the degree of tissue damage. However, an effective therapy has not yet been found in controlled studies.

Another site, possible cure:

http://www.relfe.com/Pascalite.html

Another possible cure [& site]:

http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Forest/2021/recluse/intro.html

*The above site's cure [nitro] seems most likely to me.
I never got a chance to try it though.

Click on the links at the bottom of the
main page to progress through the site
to the rest of the information.

Good Luck Bro.

I hope this helps!

:)

Thanks! I don't know, but it doesn't look like a brown recluse bite. I got bit on early Saturday morning, and although the base of my finger is quite swollen, it doesn't seem to be nearly as severe as what those sites depicted. I have no idea what bit me, but the pain was enough to awaken me, and the site of the bite is swollen and firm... The doctor probably won't have any idea either, but I guess it's best to go get it checked out, just to be on the safe side...

Yikes, Frank - BE CAREFUL!!  You do know that nitro IS the only globally recognized cluster trigger, right?

I know you have to get relief and first aid for this spider bite, but don't let them give you nitro!!!   :o

Title: Re: Home Again - Hitting The Reset Button
Post by Jeepgun on Sep 20th, 2004, 2:59pm
Thanks, Margi.

Hey, that brings up another question: What is it about nitroglycerin that triggers cluster headaches? Because, if they can figure out what it does that causes cluster headaches, couldn't they reverse engineer it to develop a cure?

Thanks for the link KOP! Yes Frank I do like Radiohead. I was also once bitten by a spider which is very unusual in the UK.Caused a bit of a stir at the hospital and had four different doctors looking at it. It wasn't poisonous I 'd just had a severe histamine reaction to it.
  Hope yours is sorted soon!

Well, they're going to have to amputate my finger.

Just kidding!  [smiley=laugh.gif] They gave me some hydrocortisone creme and a script for a ten-day course of penicillin. (Oh joy...)

So, I guess this will fix whatever's wrong.

Thanks, everyone.

No, Tom. It'll fix my foot!  ;;D

Old joke: A soldier comes into the emergency room at 2:00 a.m. complaining of a foot problem. The doctor gets him into an exam room and has the soldier remove his boots. The doctor compares the soldier's feet and says, "What seems to be the problem with your foot?" The soldier leans forward and whispers, "My dick keeps dripping on it!"
