Title: Pulled the trigger... Post by Rock_Lobster on Sep 17th, 2004, 12:36pm Just mailed out the check to purchase a lot in Illinois. Cancelled construction on my new house in PA. Heading to a sleepy little town... Jerseyville. Lot is on a very nice country club, with my in-laws right on the other side of the golf course. Had to select a different home plan. http://www.houseplans.com/plan_details.asp?id=4381&st=44 I must be on crack. |

Yep. I lived right near you from 1997-2000... in Palatine. One of my favorite dining spots is in your town... that tapas place next to the Metra tracks. So... what are the gun laws like? Will they appreciate my fine assortment of black rifles? |

Title: Re: Pulled the trigger... Post by brain_cramps on Sep 17th, 2004, 1:04pm Cool! Looks great! One question though... Do you think the architect has ever played pool? To have no obstructions around a pool table, a safe rule is to add 5 feet in every direction. Judging by the plan, your billiards room will be a little crowded with even a 4x8 table (1 ft short lengthways). Maybe if ya shot at that end from 1 step down to the sunken rec room, you'd have enough room. Yeah - I know... "Picky, picky, picky!" ;) grant ;;D |

Nope! We have already completely redesigned the lower lever... Made the 3 bedrooms into 2 suites... Made the area under the sun room into a gym... Put a bar room / media room back where most of that storage area is... Stretched out the pool room... [smiley=thumb.gif] Put full-length glass windows all along the back... as it is a walk-out basement... |

Yeah, I know the place, great food. Gun laws? Up here, they want to take them away along with everything else that makes one an American. Down there...if you don't have a gun, I think they smack you upside the head and fine you every minute until you get one. You should be safe...Until Chicagovich decides he doesn't need the Central and Southern part of the states' vote. T |

Title: Re: Pulled the trigger... Post by rubberplant on Sep 17th, 2004, 2:16pm Just curious, 2.5 Bathrooms. Does that mean 2.5 Baths as well? Isn't that a little like a waste of hot water pouring over your nicely tiled batroom floor. Hehehe! just a thought. Not a very good one, but... James |

Title: Re: Pulled the trigger... Post by floridian on Sep 17th, 2004, 2:50pm The corn fields are very nice this time of year. The green fades to a light yellow-brown, then they get out the combines and vaccume it all up. I, too was an Edwardsvillian until I saw the error of my way. I may be back if Jeanne wrecks my house. Just in time for the next event on the New Madrid fault. Were all doomed. |

Title: Re: Pulled the trigger... Post by Cerberus on Sep 17th, 2004, 5:28pm We have a lovely thing here called a "foid" card...funnt thing about those, they are required to purchase ANYTHING gun related. For those of you who arent familiar with Illinois "Foid" means Firearm, Owners, Identification, Card. Dont have one? Cant legally own a firearm, cant purchase reloading supplies, can't go to the range, cant hunt, can't buy a legal carrying case to make the transportation of your firearm/s legal ...I'm sure you get the point. The Irony? they are easy enough to get, all you have to do is fill out a form (cheaper to supply your own photo), pay off the state (fees) and wait about a month while they investigate your criminal background (courtesy of the state police). Better not have any felonies or owe any child support either. Assault crimes automatically negate any chance of legal gun ownership here. Save yourself the trouble and move to Iowa where you can purchase a hunting license, shotgun and shells all in the same transaction and all ya need is a driver's license saying you were born before 1967 or a DNR #. Good grief, Ramon What circle of hell did you say this was? Oh wait, Hell is much nicer than this, you're in Illinois son. |

john_d, I didn't mean the post, just the thread title. " Pulled the trigger... " , sorry, but when I see thread titles such as this, I think something bad has happened. Reactionary....maybe, but I was just being honest. Just like awhile back, someone, don't remember who right off hand, posted a thread titled: " Linda Howell Is Gone " or something like that. Got a cold chill then too. That was what I was referring to. |

Title: Re: Pulled the trigger... Post by Rock_Lobster on Sep 17th, 2004, 10:29pm Thx for the kind thoughts all. We are REALLY apprehensive going into this. When we moved from Palatine/Chicago in 2000, we were ready to move to St. John/St. Thomas, but got one of those 'offers you cannnot refuse' to move back to our original home in PA (which we still owned). Now, as we prepped to build a new home in PA, we figured 'might as well move to IL'. With my job, I can move anywhere in ConUS or Europe, but an island will not work. So IL was kinda a 'why not' decision. Moving right near the in-laws and a fine country club (inexpensive as well, relative to most such clubs). Should be a nice quiet place to raise my spawn. Best, Wrokk! |
