Hurricane Jeanne is forecast to be in the Jacksonville area Wednesday as another cat 2-3 hurricane. Keep an eye on it there is much discrepency in the forecast track and it could just as easily end up in Georgia / S. Carolina

Karl is forecast to head north and not bother anyone.

Right now Jeanne is a tropical storm, it may strengthen to a cat 1, possibly 2. This mornings track was toward Jax but it's way to early to tell. My opinion is that it is going to head north.

Heres a few construction tips for those that want to be able to stay in their house during a hurricane.
doublewides and single wides will be hazardous to your health. I realy don't know why those things are still allowed in the hurricane belt anyway.
at least part of the house needs to have concrete roof. preferably the whole thing.
block and concrete construction. woodframe houses won't cut it.
small over hangs
a cistren is a must.
standby diesel genset with capacity to at least run your fridge and some lights. fuel for 5-7 days.
quality hurricane shutters
put away or get rid of anything that may get blown away or cause you damage. Flying debris is the biggest cause of damage.
The wind will come from one direction and then shift 180 degrees at some point. Open as many doors and windows as possible on the leeward side of the house. Be ready to shift to the other side when the wind shifts. This will relieve the pressure inside the house and help save your roof.

If your gonna stay put for the storm here are a couple tips on surviving the aftermath of a storm.
Clean water will be a problem, stock up. Fill the tubs containers what ever. You can't have to much
Turn you fridge and freezers down to the lowest setting a day or so ahead of time.
electricity will be gone. Stock up on can food, and NONperishable dry food.
Get gas for the grill so you can cook. make sure the gas is turned off during the storm.
Put important docs and valuables in a safe place.
If youve got young kids get them set up in safe place with lots of things to keep them occupid.
flashlight, portable radio and batteries.
I don't recomend candles.
Make sure youv'e got flood insurance. Hurricane coverage won't cover flood damage.
