Title: Need computer help Post by Lizzie2 on Sep 16th, 2004, 10:52am I keep getting two "back door" viruses...one is a BDI trojan and the other is "aqadcup". I am getting messages several times as day that McAfee keeps finding them. Then I run my scan program and there are 7 files that it finds that it is unable to delete, clean , or quarantine. Can anyone help me????? Thanks :) |

Title: Re: Need computer help Post by Giovanni on Sep 16th, 2004, 9:46pm Windows XP. Go to start>programs>accessories>system tools>System Restore; and disable system restore. You'll get a warning, but ignor it. Then download this stinger removal tool from here: http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ After you run that program; re-enable system restore. I believe this should do it. John |

Title: Re: Need computer help Post by sailpappy on Sep 17th, 2004, 5:17pm Lizzie2, I don't know what operating system you have, if its XP you can rid yourself of those adware programs by starting your computer in Safe Mode) (Hit the F-8 key while the boot up process runs, then choose "Safe Mode") Run your McAfee scan then delete the files, for some reason you will be able to remove them in this manner, The OS wont recognise that they are write protected and allow deletion. it kind of technical but Try this, only works for XP though! Pappy Only in safe Mode! |

Title: Re: Need computer help Post by Mark C on Sep 17th, 2004, 10:18pm Hya Carrie, First...disable System Restore (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001111912274039?OpenDocument&src=sec_doc_nam)...then go here (http://www.misec.net/trojanhunter/) and download the free trial version (http://www.misec.net/products/TrojanHunter.exe) of Trojan Hunter. I have used a bunch of these proggies and this is a good one...not perfect..but good. After installation update the defs and run the program in Safe Mode (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406?OpenDocument&src=sec_doc_nam).....re-boot...re-enable System Restore and run the scanner again. Let me know if this doesn’t kill it......... Safe Surfing, Mark |
