Well I just clicked on the HSG Chat and I received a message from Elaine. It appears the chatroom is no more.
I hate the negative changes in here. :'(

I completely stayed out of the threads because I don't have the "history" that many do.

I think that this is a terrible shame. Very sad for it was a place that I found some additional sanity and support.

What a shame.
It was about 2 years ago when I first went there and that was the first live contact I had ever had with other clusterheads.
Recently I haven't gone there very often but at the time it meant a lot to me to be able to talk to others about what was going on with my head. Now I guess no one else will get to experience that.

You can send the other headachey types to http://headaches.about.com and they have a chat link off of there, but it is not a very active chat and also has even more rules than Elaine's did. I'm a chat host there, but I've more or less abandoned my duties for the past few months. Anyhow, it's at least a resource for people with other headache types.

I doubt Elaine is going to read this, as she has deleted her profile and she asked me to take HSG down. I haven't talked to her, so I do not know what is bothering her. I did tell her that I have a back up of the site, incase she changes her mind.

Didn't know Elaine was running the site, was under the impression it was being run off of an off site provider. Thought they pulled the plug. Didn't mean anything toward Elaine.

Hmm.... last time I checked we were all adults that have freedom of speech. Just like any other chat room, there WILL be swearing, and dirty talk... and "cyber fights" I don't see what the big deal is... If you don't like what your reading... Don't read it, or don't be part of the conversation! But don't ruin it for everbody because YOU were offended. Just my opinion.

This has all gotten WAY out of hand!!

Elaine asked that people go to another chat room if there was going to be "blue humor" in the conversations.

We did.

Now HSG is gone?

Elaine, if you are reading this, this was NEVER anything serious enough to be taken personally.

I for one LOVE going to HSG. I have met some of the best friends of my life in there. But I also have enough respect for Elaine to abide by her wishes. We wanted to tell off color jokes and kid around about it being "nekkid chat" (which we all knew was just a joke) and take our minds off our freakin headaches for a while.

SO, to facilitate Elaine's request we decided to make a new chat room where we could do just that. BUT, we also still support each other there...for life problems as well as head problems.

I am VERY concerned about Elaine. She is a good woman and something must be bothering her terribly to make her delete her profile and take down the chat room. Talk to us, Lady E!

I hope you change your mind about here and get your log in back and reinstate HSG as well. Just because some people choose not to chat at HSG doesn't mean ALL people choose not to chat there. The other chat room was only an alternative.

I think it's a darned good idea john.

Elaine wouldn't have done it without giving it a lot of serious thought.

We all (or most of us) know how much and how many love Elaine...and know that she must have given this decision much thought before carrying it out.

I don't think her post left much to be imagined. She simply didn't like what was going on.

Elaine likes to have fun just as much as anyone else, so in her eyes, it must have been worthy of pulling the plug.

Not to me, that thread was totally confusing and was full of miss-communication.

What I do know about Elaine is that she has regularly went out of her way to help clusterheadache sufferers, since waaay back. So benefit of the doubt, or just plain tolerance of strong emotional reactions, should be in order. Don't ya think?

The initial issue was 'want to talk nasty, do it elsewhere'.

In my eyes, the thread instead focused on the issue of reading logs, with the implication that something is wrong with that. I could see the board op getting miffed at that.

Frankly, I don't blame Elaine a bit. Good for her for taking a stance on this. Knowing Elaine, this is probably the most difficult thing she's ever had to do. She loves this cluster community more than anyone ever has or will in the future. She has a shrine in her house of all the things her cluster family have sent her over the years and HSG was truly her baby. This must be killing her. :'(

I think EVERYONE needs to consider Elaine's feelings here instead of whining about having no place to chat on the internet.

Elaine, if you're reading this - consider yourself hugged and know that I completely understand what you're going through. I admire your courage for doing this, TS.

Elaine set rules for her chat room. She asked that the rules be followed. Some pigheaded not a very nice persons refused to follow the rules.
Now the chat room is closed.
End of story.

Doesn't matter to me.....I like Elaine.....that's before dureing and after the chat deal. I can't do chat cuz of bein kicked offline so much. But people get comfortable like they did in her chat room and.....well......it goes from there. Happens everywhere......no real crime here. But you have to follow the rules......and she had the right to set them......and the rite to be upset if they were not followed. Too bad this all had to happen....I'm sure she is very upset over it all and for that I feel VERY bad. Myself....I don't like rules.....but I do have RESPECT !!!Maybe a new day will dawn a new chat Pam

It's been some time since I've spoken with E, but I do know she was concerned about some issues in chat back then...she was getting complaints.

Elaine has a great sense of humor.....and she can tell a dirty joke like nobody's business. It wasn't the raunchy talk or typical "blue" jokes and humor that had her upset.

She never mentioned names to me.....she wouldn't do that. She even knew I hadn't been around enough to know who was going into chat. She said that some people had gotten so graphic sexually that there had been complaints. It was so bad that she was embarrassed.......and trust me.....it takes a lot to embarrass that lady. She had asked them to tone it down......they ignored her wishes.

It wasn't censoring per se, it was a request from the webmaster to accomodate the other chatters. Things didn't change. She tried again. Same result.

Now this woman has the best blow job jokes in the world.... ;).....she's not some wimpy little thing who is offended at off color jokes. So my thinking is the sexually explicit talk had to be of the type that's really, really rough, and stuff like that should be taken private anyway.

This whole thing has me really upset. It was like having a neighbor who opened your house for coffee anytime...where you could talk about your pain and for the reason we are all here. Now where will we go when we need to be together? I'm surely not going to some MSN site that isn't serious about Cluster Headaches and our family here. Especially wity people that don't care about a Matriarc of our family like Elaine. I do not want to be caught up in dirty talk. Face it folks we have said this before, some people are here because of CH... the most excruciating pain known to Man (and woman) Then some people are here to socialize. What was once a family has become a bunch of clicks... There were always rules. The next thing you know they would have wanted to share porno on Elaines site........ cut it out. I was a moderator for Migraine on Elaines board and I would still like to privately help people with such issues if need be. I am truly sorry that I have no where to now vent my problems as well as my hubby's when he is in cycle. I am sorry that I will lose contact with OLD friends......Yes some of us have been here since the beginning........ I was the first person to log on to the NEW board when we redid it because of people that wanted to hurt CH.com. Do you suppose that is happening again?...... I'm no prude........ those of you that know me know that. But to lose HSG and the Chat and Elaine over cyber sex...........I hope it was good for you... because a great deal of family members are gonna be sad......... love to those who care Ree

ree, I know you are frustrated and hurt, but please slow down.

folks, this all started about a *chat room*. as a software developer I can tell you that chat rooms are what college kids build for school projects, chat rooms are a dime a dozen. You can find chat rooms all overand get the software for free.

However, people are not a dime a dozen. I am asking for you folks to slow down, don't go deleting profiles, and realize that THIS WILL PASS and you will all wonder what the fuss was about. Please.

I'm wondering.....and believe me I don't know for sure cuz I try to stay out of the bad gossip end.......but could she of gotten alot of email gruff over mentioning she read the chat logs ? I think that freaked alot of people out and understandably so.......not that she did bad doin it.....but what ya mite think is TOTALLY private is a shock to find out differently if ya thought ya was safe and figure people weren't happy with that realization. (that'd prolly bother me too if I'd been on there alot) So jus wonder'd if maybe she got some pressure in that area also. And maybe said SCREW the whole smeal ?? Just a thought but not neccisarily the facts Pam

Too bad tho.....but seems most sites do have strict rules. I checked out a few pain sites for 'my area' of whines.....most were EXTREMELY strict........no cussing....no menton of drug talk other then medical reasons or ya'd get booted as a druggie.....no off color talk either.......one lady told a joke in a post about a priest and a nun and got banned.......ya get banned for like 7 days or somethin. And I found a few that had no rules......people got on that had NOTHING to do with anyone and called everyone names........said rauchy nasty shit.........no one could really get around it. They'd jus show up and talk porno crap and you name it. Was off the wall stuff. I jus checked in for the info.....wasn't nothin there to learn cept new slang words and how to use em. So......all in all..............ya's got a good thing goin on here !!!! Better then most will even KNOW !
