That seems to reflect some strong feelings.  Being myself not involved in HSG chat much, I'd like to know what has happened here.  Elaine?  If you'd like to just leave it at that, that's fine, but I'm really out in the cold on this one........why are you not going to be with us here?

Dunno cuz I didn't know there was a real problem here cept with chat stuff which I don't get on anyhow and glad I don't cuz this way I KNOW NOTHING. She's one of the big dogs on here so not sure why she'd leave. Must be chat related Pam

Always sad to see people leave......have seen em come and go....done it myself.....sometimes a nice long break is a good thing. Reassemble your feelings.

As for the chat stuff, I don't know shit about it, (I think I've been there a total of maybe five times, and I've never seen anything even close to cybersex)  but she already spoke up and expressed her wishes, and then deleted the whole thing and left before anyone had the chance to correct anything. Gee, that's real mature and constructive, isn't it!  >:(

hey Jeepgun................Lady Elaine is one of the toughest ladies you'll ever come across. I have not talked to her about her decision to close her chat site (and I'm not going to, it's none of my business), but I am sure it was a little more than what was put here at CH.com.
Somebody(s) had to have pushed, insulted, harassed or threatened her to get her to close it down.
It's a shame. We all lost on this one.

Kids!!  Please stop arguing.  We don't know why Elaine is gone, and arguing about it ain't gonna help.  Maybe she is just burned out a bit.   Best thing to do now is stop stabbing each other over things that most of us don't understand.

Elaine has contributed alot and I am sorry she felt she had to leave.  Trying to run a web service can be a huge headache, and if she felt it wasn't working or wasn't worth it, I understand her decision to pull the plug.

I'm just as sorry as anyone else that Elaine is gone, and I know she's been going through some things in her own life. I thought it was miserable when she resigned from OUCH BoD, and now she has gone and deleted her profile as well as the chat room before anyone had any chance to address the problems at hand. I agree: We all lost on this one.

I'm with Jimi on this one.  Counting to ten.  

Elaine AND Ree have both brought a lot to this place.  And so have you, KOP, and Jeep.  Elaine has hosted a chat room for a long time.  Time for someone else to take the reins.  As a new webmaster myself, I can see that there is a risk for burnout.  It's a lot of work and even the most dedicated of people can get tired.  Nothing ever last forever, folks.  

So....suck it up, Buttercup - time to move on.

Elaine offered that site to us when she was in the depths of sickness.  When she wasnt even well enough to take care of it herself. That was why she had Mast at the helm.   The woman isnt well right now.  And even though she suggested that you find somewhere to "cyber" I dont think she thought you guys actually would......... Heck~ DJ even started a chat here once and we didnt use it.  I think she figured if the family was going to be cut in half what was the point of having a chat.  Those sites are alot of work also.  She got kicked in the ass.  and anyone now giving me shit about this is feeling guilty.  I will not take back what I said...  Cyber sex isnt a reason to lose a life long friend....... how idiotic.   Thanks Margi for bein a ref........ but sometimes the clicks here rule........... funny though the members never hang around long enough to make a lasting impression..... ree  Oh and a little modification here... I will never leave you can count on that..............

Ditto KOP's comments. I have nothing to feel guilty for, and I am not "giving anyone shit." Matter of fact, I couldn't give a shit about chat. I never participated on any of the chat programs beyond a few brief occasions, and never personally witnessed anything even close to cybersex taking place.

I AM upset that Elaine chose to delete her profile and leave. Sometimes, being upset means being a little angry. To have someone come along and start jamming a finger in my face certainly does nothing to make me feel calm or conciliatory, and I certainly have no need of an on-line mother. Ree, I apologize for responding to you in the way that I did. I didn't appreciate being provoked or threatened, though. In any case, I forgive you and it's water under the bridge, as far as I am concerned.

Sorry, Jeep, but I've got to say that was rude and uncalled for.  

Elaine has been here for years helping clusterheads and their families.  She's worked long and hard for OUCH and was one of the original founders.  She has kept HSG going so that folks would have a place to go for help and support.  I won't continue to mention the things Elaine has done but the list goes on and on.
It doesn't matter what she has decided to do now, her past deeds deserve more respect than such comments.  I can also promise you that she will continue to support clusterheads in need.....deleted profile or not

I'm not trying to 'mother' you by any means but I will say that if you did belong to me I'd think you needed to have a 'time out'.  Maybe you need to smoke a cigarette or go out side for a deep breath.  You've been breathing to much of your own air lately, young man.

    Well Jackie, you stayed away from this thread longer than I thought you would. You getting mellow in your old age  ;)  Anyway, at least as of noon, Elaine is still an officer of Ouch and still is the treasurer as far as I know.
     I am sure that she will continue to work for OUCH, but just doesn't want to be ridiculed anymore about her post that she made. CH com. and OUCH is differant as we all know and she IS still sick from what I have heard, so she doesn't need the stress.
   
     If someone would like to open and moderate a chat to deal with support of CH's only, well, build it and they will come.

Has anyone talked to Elaine today? I live about an hour from her and we have been playing hell with the remnants of Ivan. Tornados spawning all over the place! I used to have her phone #, but lost it when I had to reformat my hard drive.

Thanks Jackie, I'm glad to hear E's ok! The tornado sirens have been going off all afternoon today, but I think the worst of it has passed. We were lucky- never lost power and still in one piece.

Elaine,

I know you'll be reading this thread. Forget all the arguments going on here, and get back to doing what you do so well. If you want to finish things at HSG, that's up to you - as Margi said, those of us who've run sites know what it's like - but please tell us, even via email to those registered. There are only a few people in the world who have made a difference to CH people around the globe, not just in the US; you, DJ and BobP being the three I can name - remember your chat was even on TV! :)

If you're upset by people trying the other chat, think how greedy for opportunities most of us are. A lot of us will have popped in, just to see who was there. We need HSG back though; remember when you started HSG, it was an addition to ch.com, and both continued, complementing each other. Surely there's no reason the same couldn't apply here.

To those who have spoken for Elaine, thanks. To those who have criticised, think how you would feel if you were vilified for trying to uphold your own standards, and how you would feel if honest criticism descended to abuse.

I want HSG back, it feels like home as much as ch.com and OUCH(UK) do to me. I don't like being evicted, especially when others are responsible.

Okay, folks: This is the last post I'm going to make, explaining my previous posting in this thread.

Bob_P, I will thank you to keep your tomatoes to yourself, as I am going out on a limb here and baring my soul.

I've already received quite a round of abuse, courtesy of several persons on this board who felt that I was attacking Elaine. Your motives are noble and I respect that.

Ree, I've already asked for your forgiveness and made a public apology. Since you choose not to accept it, there's nothing more I can do.

First, I would like to apologize to Elaine. I admit that my comments were made out of my own hurt and feelings of upset over a number of situations that have been gradually spiraling out of control since the convention:

Number One: There was the complete mess that took place on the OUCH boards. It seems to finally be coming together now, thank God... I returned from the convention so ready to help, donate time, money, effort, sweat, and whatever personal hard work it took to help OUCH and to help my fellow cluster headache sufferers. The "first shot fired over the bow," was Elaine resigning from the Board of Directors. This was hurtful and bewildering, particularly since she was one of the founding members. I didn't (and still don't) understand, so it was very upsetting.

Number Two: The call went out on this message board as well as the OUCH board for people to "pick up and oar and pitch in." My offer to help assemble and disseminate information packets to local physicians and put together press releases were met with silence on the OUCH board, and when I attempted to contact local news and media sources, again, I was met with silence. Frustrating and hurtful... Meanwhile, the OUCH board was filled with nothing but chaos. (Please don't tell me how nice it is over there now. I've been there and seen that all of the guts and blood splatter have neatly been mopped up.)

Number Three: Just when it seemed that things were getting better, yet another blow is struck: Apparently, people were doing things in the chat room on Elaine's site that Elaine didn't approve of, and she posted and asked people to cool it. Then, she pulled the plug on the chat room. That's understandable, I guess. I have never seen any cybersex going on in the handful of times that I've visited, and didn't know that she had made previous requests for people to control themselves.

But then, right on the heels of that, deleting her profile here... Jeez... It felt like getting slugged in the stomach. And yes, I'm guilty of taking it all too much to heart, for perhaps caring too much, and for taking it entirely too personally, but it felt like she was saying, "F*** you all, I'm outta' here!" to everyone here, and this is why I responded in the way that I did.

Elaine, I am sorry if I offended and hurt you and ask your forgiveness. Truly, I offer no excuses, but hopefully, my explation and background will help you (and everyone else) to understand why I felt the way that I did, and why I still feel quite hurt and saddened over the events of the past two/three months.

So, there it is. The truth of things as I see them, and the reason behind why I responded in the way that I did. NOT because I was trying to hurt Elaine and not because I want to see her leave! Quite the opposite! I want to see OUCH succeed! I want to see people working together and cooperating! Most of all, I want to at least be able to hold out some shred of hope that this hellish nightmare of cluster headaches could someday see a cure so that NONE OF US has to ever suffer with these things again, and so that no one else will ever have to suffer with them for years, before finding some avenue of relief.

Anyway, I've made quite a mess of things, and I offer my sincere, most heartfelt apologies and ask the forgiveness of each person whom I've offended.
